Re: BA009 revisited
@probes I don't know if it's still on the curriculum for the ATPL Human Performance section. I haven't done any ATPL exams for over 20 years. Curiously, we did not look at it during my Masters. Especially, since resilience is "big" and the new way of looking at improving crew performance is to highl...

Re: The really boring and totally pointless snippets thread V
A very enjoyable trip to Tenerife courtesy of teh Big Fella and easyJet. We stayed at the hotel KN Arenas del Mar at El Medano. It's rather close to GCTS. It's a mecca for wind powered watersports. So I had a couple of lessons trying to learn to wing foil. It's very challenging. However, I have mana...

Re: BA009 revisited
It was exemplary CRM. I remember studying it during various ATPL courses (CASA and JAA). During a time when it was common to criticise poor CRM, this crew stood out as exemplars in how to do it right. One ATPL instructor (CASA) was a former Qantas pilot. He visited that B747 after landing. He said t...

Re: Boots and brakes
Yep, Maxarets needed spin up and if you'd left your feet "high" on the rudders, then you'd not get the spin up and cue a couple of tyres flat spotting/bursting.

Re: Boots and brakes
The Hawker (HS125) had a similar issue in that it had Maxarets, not ABS. So if you landed with your feet on the brakes, you'd end up with wheels locking up and the inevitable flat spot/tyre burst. Since I had a true GA background, my feet were always firmly on the floor, however, a few of my colleag...

Wow. As soon as I saw Truckee mentioned, I knew it was a weather related event.

Re: The really boring and totally pointless snippets thread V
Got home yesterday. I gave the crew some choc bunnies as a "thank you for flying today". I was rewarded with a cheeky upgrade. Seat's the same but the food is much better.

3 days in Brighton/Burgess Hill at CAE. Tomorrow off on tour for 3 days. Had to show a bit of proactiveness and get myself home first. So I did.

Hydromet, agreed. When I drove through central Australia on the great job search quest, the Milky Way was absolutely spectacular.

Oof what a day. Fun little MTB ride in the woods with a friend and his pooch. (Half Husky/Half Rottweiler). It was going well until I got a flat tyre. Grr.
Legs had a bit of a work out and then nuked them in the gym in the afternoon!

Re: The really boring and totally pointless snippets thread V
Visited the nearby indoor climbing gym. We did both bouldering and some autobelay climbing. It's amazing how tiring it is.
Big Rock Hub in Kingston, Milton Keynes.
Then we feasted on some Turkish tucker at a nearby restaurant.

Not really on my work radar chat, there was a little initially. The Chally I fly is a different model with different Engine Run switches.
That appears to be a possible source of why the engines shut down.

Re: The really boring and totally pointless snippets thread V
Bought a new computer last week. It's very fast and quiet. Today I spent an hour or so sorting out the rats nest of cables. I found one I hadn't used in 15 years. That's freed up a power point spot. Happily the other IT job I had to do today had sort of fixed itself. That was to reconfigure the down...
