Re: Covid - 19: How is it affecting you?
At 0230Z tomorrow, we cancel all restrictions on mixing and mingling, apart from social distancing. Sports back into competition, with spectators at the grounds. No limit on time spent at the pub. The only real restriction is at the Territory/State borders, where you need a permit to cross and arriv...

Re: Storm
I hadn’t seen or heard anything about this on our local radio and tv news. But then, all our content comes out of Sydney and Brisbane. To them, Western Australia may as well be on another planet of little interest.

Re: Covid - 19: How is it affecting you?
Sorry G-CPTN. I couldn’t work out how to display a copy other than through that link. Our local rag, for such it is, prides itself on puerile, juvenile front page headlines. “why I shoved a cracker up my clacker” is apparently regarded as the high point. Regardless, after 53 days our pubs have re-op...

Re: Covid - 19: How is it affecting you?
Well the Chinese Government is so confident the US Military Source story will stand up to independent scrutiny, they’ve just started a trade war against Australia over our support for the enquiry.
If they have nothing to hide, why adopt bellicose measures to avoid scrutiny?

Re: Covid - 19: How is it affecting you?
Call me a cynical, old spin doctor but, if there is real substance to the reports linking the US military to the outbreak in Wuhan, you’d expect the Chinese government to be rushing to embrace the international calls for an independent enquiry into the cause and handling of the outbreak. Mind you, I...

Re: Covid - 19: How is it affecting you?
16 days without a new case here. 16 of the 26 afflicted have been cleared as recovered. None of the remaining 10 are regarded as being in a serious condition or worse. No deaths recorded to date. That’s for 10% of the Australian land mass. It’s our summer into autumn here. Have to wonder whether the...

Re: Covid - 19: How is it affecting you?
I'm almost embarrassed to be posting here. We've now gone 16 days without a reported case of infection. There has been no community transmission. Of the 26 cases detected here among people who had contracted it interstate or overseas, 11 have recovered and none of the others are requiring serious tr...

Re: Covid - 19: How is it affecting you?
Geez. We don't know how lucky we've got it. Only 28 cases reported since it started, all contracted interstate or overseas before returning to the Territory. No deaths (touch wood). No community transfer and no new cases in 10 days. No lock down but social distancing and no groups over 10 people all...

Re: Covid - 19: How is it affecting you?
Still no community transfer here. The main hospital’s Emergency Department has moved from its default position of being severely overcrowded to issuing a press release encouraging people to come in for treatment. A couple of dickheads who had arrived from hotspots interstate have been fined for brea...

Re: Covid - 19: How is it affecting you?
Guilty as charged Fliegs. Hi G-CPTN it’s the northern half of the Northern Territory of Australia. The squared off bit that sits top dead centre of the continent and runs south to the dead centre. It’s 10% of the Australian land mass with a total population around 230,000 people, several million cat...

Re: Covid - 19: How is it affecting you?
After the initial panic, things are turning surreal here. We’ve closed our borders to all except those willing to undergo 14 days quarantine in a government managed facility. The 22 known cases all contracted it before coming here. There’s no community transfer going on. We have all prepared to work...

Names similar to but not quite the same as reputable banking houses, fake addresses, fake SWIFT codes, fake bond certificates, forged documentation and dodgy websites. The basic scam is...

Re: Wanaka airshow this year.
Hi Slash
The RAAF Edinburgh Airshow last November featured DH82, Miles Master (or Magister?), Spitfire, P51, Kittyhawk, Boomerang, Hudson, Neptune, Orion, Catalina and Meteor; along with the modern stuff. Plenty of footage on YouTube.
(Oh, and Coodakid3 flying the F35 handling display. )

Re: War in Australia - Australian Politics
Seems labor leaders past and present are coming out in favour of CHAFTA.
Is labor moving to distance itself from the "rogue unions" and divest itself of William Shorten?
