Re: SAS, Car, Air and Sea Sickness

Similar. No air or car sickness. Big ships no problem, fishing boats not much problem when in motion but as soon as the boat stops to fish and it is simply bobbing around in the water it hits me and I am useless for an hour.

Re: Are men born to be glorious idiots...?

The most "Glorious idiots" using it in its most British and noble meaning would have been the men on the ground remaining after the departing V-bombers. This particularly applies to the QRA dispersal crew. The amount of pure guts required to stand next to an aircraft on a scramble doing your duty an...

Re: Chaos in Germany

BM In the USA the left-wing is no threat to the establishment, in fact they are a useful distraction for politicians and a source of news for the mainly lefty media. The right-wing is the opposite, rightly or wrongly the right wing is seen as a threat to the excessive and oppressive plans of the Est...

I've been & am absurdly over-estimated. There are no supermen & I'm quite ordinary, & will say so whatever the artistic results. In that point I'm one of the few people who tell the truth about myself. T. E. Lawrence Five deliberately misleading statements in the first sentence followed by the bigg...

Not sure how far you can go with "quintessentially human" except perhaps that human's generally have the same number of eyes and limbs but when you get to such things as the brain and what goes on inside it even that comparison breaks down. Quintessential urge to violence, sex, cupidity. Me, a cynic...

A cousin of mine was a very skilled machinist but he had no ambition to work in a production environment. He became the maintenance machinist at a company that was totally dependent on a whole building full of WW2 machinery most of it long obsolete and no longer supported - that is, unless by my cou...

Re: More Boeing Bad News

We’ve already held a series of stand down meetings in Renton with teammates on the factory floor to share a new process for stopping FOD. When they start talking about stand downs, teammates, factory floors and sharing and "new" processes you know that they have lost the plot. The ultimate question...

As I've mentioned before I use Protomail. There is a free version but we use a paid version for company business. We also use the VPN by the same company called ProtonVPN. The e-mail messages between two Proton users, or a Proton user who provides the other party with a key, are encrypted. Stored e-...

Too busy to waste my time with Boeing until they get a team together I can expect to produce results, until then I have a couple of businesses to run. Unlike Boeing we are making money. :))

Re: The US Hamster Wheel

I find criticism of Trump's style to be quite amusing coming from a subject of a country where free speech is being suspended, law-enforcement is being used for social re-construction, reversed racism is being taught in schools and universities and the rule of law is being ignored in favour of the r...

BM, Slide down to Portland, still rains but we have great beer and there are worse things than being stuck in a good bar by weather. Agreed on the '57, nice aircraft and the specs. being bought out for the new Boeing aircraft get ever closer to a longer range '57. The '57 already has the required pa...

Why have management dorks never realized that humour is the best way of relieving tension. Applies to pilots as well as medical personnel.

Re: Floating Germ/Bacteria/Virus Pits?

As far as my own personal experience goes the most efficient germ warfare factory is a child pre-school. In the US where it is almost necessary that both parents work pre-schools are extremely common. Little Jimmy arrives with a bug which he passes to his 20 or so schoolmates who then pass this on t...

Re: MH370

Interestingly they used the same logic as I did originally in guessing a crash position. I simply figured out what I would do if I wanted to lose an aircraft over the Indian Ocean, I would head clear of land, set the FMC for the south pole and then take a pill or something. On longitude my guess was...

Hillary Clinton wins Iowa Democratic Caucus.

OK, relax. This is the joke going around in the US. The Democratic Caucus in Iowa is supposed to be the bell-weather indicator for the selection of the next Democratic presidential candidate in the US elections. The results of the voting in the Caucus have been delayed by, among other reasons, "inco...

UP At the risk of being called senile or crazy or both I would say don't sell telepathy etc short. Quick story. In the early '80s I was sent as a temporary extra standby pilot from the West Coast to Chicago. Pretty good deal, stay in a nice hotel at company expense, per-diem and very little work so ...
