Re: The really boring and totally pointless snippets thread V

Hope all is well, Wodders. Recent scan showed a 'shadow' on a kidney, but follow up showed it was just a cyst. Morning all, cloudy today but expected to clear later. Currently 18C, forecast max 27C. Off to see vascular surgeon today, presumably to have results of scan and forthcoming procedures expl...

Re: The really boring and totally pointless snippets thread V

Needless to say, the hinges aren't working quite as they are supposed to, but managed to adjust one. Got the 2nd one almost installed, then realised I had drilled the last two screw holes in the wrong places - measured 28mm instead of 33mm while working in the dark. That's the trouble with working w...

Re: The Cook Islands

Never been there, but looks like a nice place. Mate's sister in law went there and was sunbaking on the sand when a camera crew asked her if they could photograph her for tourist advertising. She appeared in full colour in an advertising spread. Not sure if she was payed - I presume so.

Re: The really boring and totally pointless snippets thread V

Good morning all, Blue skies, currently 20C, forecast max 27C. Had to go to Hardware Hell (Bunnings) to get some replacement kitchen cabinet hinges. I'd gone to the trouble of looking at their on-line catalogue and checking that the ones I need are in stock. Get there, and they don't have them. The ...

How's filming 'Fury 2' going?
'Well, Brad wasn't available, we have to go woke so it stars a black woman and a ginger trans...and the budget's pretty low'
Such detail - all yours, Fox3, congratulations. Take it away.

Re: The really boring and totally pointless snippets thread V

Good morning all, Clear blue skies here, Currently 12C, forecast max 23C. Had a couple of good walks yesterday, but woke up at 0200 and couldn't get back to sleep, probably due to Prednisone. Dose reduces today. Usually I don't have any trouble sleeping as long as I've had some exercise. Finished up...

Years ago, Bernard Hinault, 5 time Tour de France winner, was interviewed by a friend for an Australian cycling magazine. My friend asked him how he trained, to be such a great rider.
"Ride lots."

He had an interesting life. Father a professor (botany I think), flew bombers during WW II, Later aerial surveys in then Dutch East Indies (Indonesia), before getting into hydrology. He was a very intelligent and personable bloke. First glider pilot to use his parachute in Australia, and only becaus...

Hydro, the only one I can remember from those times was one of the pilots George Martin. George was responsible for pulling off a great belly landing at Sydney due to u/c failure, shut both engines off on approach aligned the 2 bladed props with wings usiing starter and hardly put a scratch on the ...

Re: Rainmakers in Dubai

I worked for Rex Aviation in the '60s and was contracted to provide maintenance for 2 x Cessna 310 used for cloud seeding. As to the success, the pilots would say the operation can best be described as,---- does not rain water, but rains money doing it.---- Bob, that may have been the same project ...

Re: Rainmakers in Dubai

Former colleague, old gliding mate of Pinky, did a big statistical study on cloud seeding here in the early '60s. From memory, it showed an increase in rain over the area studied, but don't know if it looked at effects upwing or downwind. I presume he looked at various atmospheric conditions, but do...
