Re: The really boring and totally pointless snippets thread V

Good morning all, cloudy with drizzle here today, currently 14C, forecast max 16C. It used to be the law in NSW that on Sundays, alcohol could only be served "bona fide travellers", ie you had to have travelled 50 miles. Hence, there was a proliferation of pubs just over 50 miles from Sydney, and lo...

Talking of dodecahedrons...
They are much harder to make than the other platonic solids. My money is on the Roman ones as some sort of guild piece or demonstration of the maker's skill.

Dashed off early for X-ray. in and out in 15 minutes, GP will have results in 4 hours. No complaints about that.
That sounds like a pretty good meal, OFSO.

Still coughing.

That's very sad, Ex-A. I hope your hippos turn out to be OK or can bee relocated.
Productive day today, emptied the compost bin & spread it on the garden. Will mulch the garden tomorrow, all being well.

Re: The really boring and totally pointless snippets thread V

Good morning all, nice autumn day with a little cloud around. Currently 13C, forecast max 21C. Feeling much better this morning, may be getting rid of the cough at last. Last night we both felt like a good Chinese meal, which we haven't had for years since our local closed. Ordered from another one ...

Re: The Cook Islands

Once while staying in Cairns the hotel had a couple of Cook Islands school sports teams staying there for a carnival. From memory there were footballers and swimmers, may have been others. The kids were exceptionally polite, but man, could they eat! Once the rest of us had our breakfast, they descen...

Only one pee in the night. Yippee ! Getting back to my normal state of dehydration.
Given that I have to drink lots of water, I'm quite pleased to only have to get up twice per night, without the mad urgency that I did have.

News this morning that the baggage of the NZ contingent to the Gallipoli ceremony was lost in Dubai, including uniforms and musical instruments. The Australian contingent helped out where they could, but the NZ bugler had only 10 minutes to practise playing the Last Post on a borrowed cornet.

Re: The really boring and totally pointless snippets thread V

Apparently not all the sectors that were due to go on strike, did so. Very unusual. Türkiye is very respectful to the ANZAC graves and sites. And has been since Kemal Ataturk. Even during the war there was a grudging respect between the two armies. When I was in primary school we had a teacher who ...
