Re: Wot's for Tea, Ma?
Hospital food. It's usually pretty good here, but in the ICU it's pretty basic Breakfast was 2 weetbix, fruit & juice. Dietician came today so I'll probably get yoghurt, fruit & muesli for breakfast, plus a menu for the following day to pick from. Lunch was soup, salmon & veges, Dinner was soup, a s...

Re: The really boring and totally pointless snippets thread V
I'm sure when I was at school it was "rooves" :-\ but that seems out of favour these days. Me too, but there's probably been a bit of drift there over time. Another example: when I was doing clever stuff back in the day, I remember registering patents (as in 'pay-tents') but everyone seems to speak...

Re: The really boring and totally pointless snippets thread V
Good morning all, grey day with a bit of rain this morning. Currently 12C, forecast max 18C. I may have mentioned this before but I'm sure when I was at school it was "rooves" :-\ but that seems out of favour these days. Indeed, rooves is the plural of roof, staves the plural of staff (as in surveyo...

Re: Peregrine falcons at Worcester Cathedral
Apologies for thread drift. Across the road from us and slightly down the hill, every year from March to October we hear a pair of boobook owls, which we suspect nests in a large old eucalypt in the bush (national park) there. Also across the road and slightly down the hill live a state politician a...

I wonder how much of that is down to poor specification by the client, and how much to incompetence by the contractor. I've also seen clients contract for a custom-built system when perfectly good off-the-shelf systems is available. This usually happens when someone in the client sees an opportunity...

Re: The really boring and totally pointless snippets thread V
I was always taught that you don't ask questions about anyone's health issues unless they raise the subject first. Answered the phone to one of Mrs. H's friends, who wanted to know the ins & outs of a duck's bum about my forthcoming surgery. I told her that I'd decided I was a woman trapped in a man...

Enormity is another one of those words that is, more often than not, used incorrectly. enormity | ɪˈnɔːmɪti | noun (plural enormities) 1 (the enormity of) [mass noun] the great or extreme scale, seriousness, or extent of something perceived as bad or morally wrong: a thorough search disclosed the fu...

Good morning all. Like 1DC, rarely a week goes by that either Mrs. H or I don't make use of the health system.
Grey day today, currently 14C, forecast max 17C. Constant rain forecast for today, but it hasn't started here yet. Heavy overnight rain with some damage further south though.

Re: The really boring and totally pointless snippets thread V
Good morning all, cloudy with drizzle here today, currently 14C, forecast max 16C. It used to be the law in NSW that on Sundays, alcohol could only be served "bona fide travellers", ie you had to have travelled 50 miles. Hence, there was a proliferation of pubs just over 50 miles from Sydney, and lo...

Talking of dodecahedrons...
They are much harder to make than the other platonic solids. My money is on the Roman ones as some sort of guild piece or demonstration of the maker's skill.
