Re: Any animal killers here?
It was worth starting this thread just to see that video. It was a shame he wasn’t in more pain though.

Re: Any animal killers here?
Just popped in to see how things were going here and was surprised to see this thread resurrected. Reminded me of how unpleasant one of the animal killers was. Has he really been banned? If so, I might come back a bit more often.

You can start abusing me too if you like. I agree with Chucks. What's wrong with preferring sentences which make sense over those which don't? What's wrong with expecting contributors whose native language is English to learn the difference between homophones and to use the correct one?

Re: Rumbly Tumblies (Dryers)
We have have a condensor dryer for a while now. We never have to empty the water container as we have had it plumbed in to the sink waste. They take longer to dry clothes than the more traditional type and are more expensive as well. We had to buy the condensor dryer because we couldn't vent the hot...

Re: Another laugh - how to land a 737
Land a 737 after both pilots got sick? Well I did it (in a simulator that was). I described the whole event in TOP a few years ago. It started with this question: At the risk of being misunderstood and subject to abuse (as if that ever happens!) I pose the following question for your input. I have b...

Well maybe I shouldn't have visited? All I seem to have done is to create confusion. Sorry about that.

Re: henry crun thanks.
Just visiting to pass on some sad news. It appears that Henry is no longer with us, at least that is what is suggested on the meteor thread in TOP. I liked what he wrote. He will be missed.

Re: Which English Do You Speak?
Ian, I was able to enter multiple countries in which I had lived for more than 6 months.
I was quite impressed with the results, although answering that "she'll be right" is correct is a bit of a giveaway as to my dialect.

Doesn't anyone check whether the story is true before we all get on the outrage bus?

Re: Concerns over a Paypal 'scam' email
Boac, did the scam email address him by name? A genuine email from pp should start "Dear Bull,". A scam email will start "Dear PayPal user,". If the scam email addressed him by name them we have a bit to worry about.

Ok, I suspect that some people are going to be offended here, but I mean well. This site has potential and I would like it to succeed so please understand, I mean this constructively. We have too many examples here of what happens when there are no rules. Things get nasty. You can't trust everyone t...

Indeed it was as Gerald Wiley that he wrote "fork handles". One of the greatest pieces of English humour ever written.

Re: Friday Jokes
It sure was Ronnie Barker, also known as Gerard Wiley. Even when he performed as one of the Two Ronnies he would submit material under this nom de plume so that, if chosen, it would be on its own merit. A very funny man!

Well this is an entertaining chat about language. If I tell someone here in Oz that I am pissed it means that I am intoxicated. But in USA I understood it to mean that I am angry. Is that true rgb?

Re: Happy Freaking Christmas
If we are going to be precise a billabong is a small body of water which was once a bend in a river but which has been cut off from the river. It's called an ox bow in some other parts of the world. It's easy to tell a real billabong because they all have jolly swagmen camped by them. There are heav...

Re: Good Photography
Have my digital photo albums as screen savers on various devices, and I use a digital photo frame as well. So I am often looking at photos I have taken in the last 10 years. Older photos just sit in the drawer waiting for me to scan them so they too can be displayed easily.

I like Siri. She always does what I ask her. She is very useful while I am driving. She will send text message for me, give me directions, check the weather - in fact there is not a lot she can't do.

Re: Annoying airliner passengers
I didn't think the cabin crew acted unprofessionally at all by showing some appropriate emotion. It was terribly sad to see the poor grieving widow get up from her seat and look at her recently deceased husband, something she did thoughout the flight to Singapore. In fact in the entire first class c...
