Re: Airlines reliant on GPS

Having a Nav to shuffle the Decca rolls - luxury! In my early days on the North Sea we used Decca Mk8 and had to do the roll change ourselves with the cack handed inevitably tearing the roll. Then came Danac, and then for a short while our Company had Omega VLF which was all but useless. When GPS fi...

Morning all. Dry out, rain on its way.. Had ultrasounds on my prostate for years: was always told everything ok. MRI said otherwise. Wishing you the best if luck! After an MRI an old friend was diagnosed with locally advanced prostate cancer which has spread to seminal vesicles and lymph nodes, and...

My Great Uncle Bert emigrated to Australia from the UK when he was 16 in 1907. He joined the Australian Army at the outbreak of war and fought at Gallipoli. He survived that and died in Winton, Queensland, in 1964.

The Bute House Agreement is dead!!!

https://www.aberdeenlive.news/news/aberdeen-news/snps-power-sharing-deal-greens-9245407 Brilliant news! With only 7 Green MSPs in Scotland they had far too much influence with two of them being Ministers as part of the power sharing deal. With the SNP now having to operate as a minority administrat...

The electric ‘shocks’ are Nerve Conduction Tests and are quite minor. I had them done about 15 years ago to confirm a Peripheral Neuropathy diagnosis on my feet. They also confirmed carpel tunnel which I wasn’t aware of then and still have no symptoms!

Re: FOD Plod Needed at Denver

1979. Senior BCAL people came down to the Ferranti Helicopters Shoreham base shortly after they bought the company. Familiarisation flights were provided to those who wanted them and I was detailed to take two of them on a short flight in a Bolkow 105. It turned out to be VERY short! The 105 had poo...

Re: Malaysian navy helicopters collide mid-air

Seven in one helicopter and three in another. Why seven? Surely for air displays you should only have minimum crew. This accident comes two days after two Japanese Navy anti-submarine helicopters crashed during a night exercise. The flight recorders were found close to one another so presumably anot...

........For a few weeks the VW has been vibrating as I accelerate. Getting gradually worse. Been to the VW doctor this morning for a diagnostic test drive. Flywheel diagnosed. Re: Chaos in Scotland.

The husband of former First Minister Nicola Sturgeon has been charged in connection with the embezzlement of funds from the Scottish National Party. Police Scotland launched a formal investigation into the SNP's finances in July 2021 after receiving complaints about how donations were used. Question...

Re: My first car

My first car was a grey 1956 Austin A35 Reg. 975KMV bought secondhand in 1964 for £175. Paid for with a £5 deposit and the rest was a bank loan that my bank manager father set up for me. About 6 months later later I was driving overnight from a weekend assignation in Bournemouth with my girlfriend -...

Re: Chaos in Scotland.

With reference to the ludicrous Hate Crime and Public Order (Scotland) Act which appropriately came into force on April 1st there have been more that 3000 cases registered in the first week which are being investigated by 40 "specially trained" police officers. Here is an extract from a letter writt...

Re: Ryanair FR6066 tonight

Looking at Arrivals at TER for 3 April it seems there were a lot of cancellations and a diversion. FR6066 is now showing as shortly arriving back at Lisbon on FR24!! Just shows it needs using with caution. So it now appears after a couple of holds FR6066 diverted and never landed at TER. A blocked r...

Ryanair FR6066 tonight

Just looking at the No.1 tracked flight on FR24......a scheduled flight from Lisbon to Terceira which should take 2:35. It appears from FR24 that after a couple of holds near the destination he set course back towards Lisbon. TER METARS have been fine all evening. After quite a while the aircraft ap...
