Re: The really boring and totally pointless snippets thread VI
It is a bit of a hoof to the tube from t'club, but for we lesser mortals there is a night bus and two day buses that stop right outside. Then of course, you need somewhere to 'alight' close to where you are going. Often the taxi is the best option.

Re: Lithuania: DHL freight plane crashes near Vilnius airport
Suffice it to say, it was not me that pushed down. Good news. Whoever the NIgel/lla was that did it, he/she reminds me of the story of the Mississippi steamboat Captain bragging to a lady bridge visitor about how he knew every sandbank in the river, at which point the boat ran gently aground. "See"...

More like thinking about how to bring an early end to his career? I think he was eventually re-roled as Nav.Probably thinking more about his career than flying.

Re: Lithuania: DHL freight plane crashes near Vilnius airport
Would you like to talk about it? Not TOO sure I would want to read about that! The 'cloud got in my way so I pushed forward on the stick' routine!? Reminds me of the story I have told about my low flying exercise with one of the RAF's 'future Air Marshals' at Cranwell. Yes, he pushed down. :(( .......

Re: Lithuania: DHL freight plane crashes near Vilnius airport
An Av Herald comment tonight suggests that in the crash wreckage one of the leading edge device actuators did not appear to be extended past the retracted position - suggesting that all the flaps were up - since the LE devices move with first flap stage selection on the 737 - which is amazing since ...

Re: Write your own Daily Mail aviation incident drama
I think it has the same intermittent horn like the 737, which if you remember was confused with the same noise for 'gear' in the Helios crash.

The article refers to the incident report, not the event.

Re: Write your own Daily Mail aviation incident drama
Wow! That suggests a totally incompetent crew. The incorrect switch position is part of the pre-flight preparation and as the report says the after take-off checks should have picked this up within a minute or two of lift off. There were other 'missed' clues too. The facts as presented by 'Lettice' ...

'Bro' (whoever that is - is he a friend who sits at your table and talks to you...?) says "Did you have a point to make in that post" about Woody's post and if so, what was it and who is 'Bro'?

Well, unless your place is more 'basic' than Rovaniemi, thermals were not needed.... we had a pleasant day (thats' me, my co and adopted daughters) in the airport 'facilities' and played father Christmas games etc etc. Sadly, no miseltoe.talmacapt wrote:Hope they've brought their thermals.

Re: Lithuania: DHL freight plane crashes near Vilnius airport
I understand the second pilot is (unsurprisingly) very badly injured and may not be of assistance in the inquiry. None of what we know so far explains why they crashed. 'Rushed' approaches happen a fair bit to varying degrees (done a few myself...) and this one was not really 'wildly' rushed. Loss o...

But in this ops-normal micro world, most members skew to the left. I'm pretty sure that those on this site who voted for Kamala are lefties I'm not sure what is causing your state of mind, GP, but would be interested to know on what you base the above. 'Skew to the left' - how are you judging that?...
