Re: The US Hamster Wheel

Do you mean a final solution Ben?
No. Most Muslims, in my experience, are fine people. The Jihadis are the ones who need killing,

Re: The US Hamster Wheel

There may be Ex . But what choice do we have eecept to fight it, always? The ideology of Islam has to be defeated - us vs. them. Our side doesn't have a killing ideology but their's does. Its expressions of Islam that produces red blood in streets around the world daily. Hopefully the civilized peop...

Re: Head of Iran's Quds Force Killed at Baghdad Airport

Iran shot down the airliner. The event brings back the same event when the US mistakenly shot down an Iranian airliner years ago. Both incidents were fog of war events, unintentional and tragic for all involved. In that light I don't castigate Iran - they didn't mean to do it, but did, and have to p...

Re: The US Hamster Wheel

So what comes next? I predict another Iranian atrocity followed by a US response, maybe even a shock and awe.

Re: The US Hamster Wheel

Seems to me that President Trump's response to Iran's need to save face, not escalating but showing restraint was apt and reduced tensions. Deft 3D chess. Now Iran is dealing with internal unrest and another rack of sanctions. Win-win. Taking out the chief of Iranian terror operations on Iraqi soil ...

Re: The US Hamster Wheel

I really don't think that Trump cares one little bit about what The Hague or any other organisation thinks I tend to agree, also with UN, NATO, WTO et al. I think he sees abuse of the US in all of them and would be happy with all bilateral agreements, mano a mano. Cut to the core, the best nations t...

Re: Need for a natural disaster of epic proportions, major war or global epidemic.

even the sea isn't an option Using sea water introduces salt contamination of the soil. That may be an attractive alternative when desperate, but fresh water sources are the best. As an aside, has Australia embraced the building of more dams and reservoirs to capture the water it has? I know for a ...

Re: Head of Iran's Quds Force Killed at Baghdad Airport

I haven't a clue about the conversations at the National Security conference after the 2nd wave of Iranian missile attacks, but I'm pretty sure there were divergent views abounding. Some would want to respond immediately with punishing attacks on Iran. Others would argue for proportionate attacks, p...

Seems there are two factions as to the cause of Australia's inferno. One says it is climate change while the other says it is forest mismanagement caused by leaving dead trees and undergrowth untouched and un-groomed, as dictated by the Greens, fueling the flames. I tend to favor the latter point of...

Re: Isn't it about time the left were told where to go?

I've been in Adelaide watching the Australian fire drama unfold, my primary news source on my mother in law's basic cable being ABC News. I agree, PM Morrison's lingering in Hawaii a few days into the inferno was a bit tone-deaf - he should have come home immediately as he now recognizes. But watchi...

Re: The US Hamster Wheel

The big one they lost was to the marauding Arabs back in the 6-700s. From what I've gathered the Zoroastrians weren't a bad bunch, while just about every population under the Crescent thumb is blighted in most respects. Further, there's a big difference between the Persians of yore and their patheti...

Au contraire, Boac . President Trump has proven himself in every instance as a player of 3D chess while his adversaries can only mange checkers. Since he came down the escalator in 2015, announcing his candidacy, he has mastered the art, facing an unprecedented onslaught by news media, entertainment...

Re: The US Hamster Wheel

President Trump has asserted that the current actions have been to prevent a war with Iran. We'll see how this works out, very shortly I think. I was surprised the US attacked another Iranian convoy in Iraq with purportedly senior Iranian assets on board today. This signals a strategy of an offensiv...

Re: The US Hamster Wheel

No, President Trump doesn't work that way, tending to make his moves, damning the politics. So far it's worked well for him. From any angle I don't see him imitating President Obama in any way - he is the anti-Obama that we needed in 2016.

Re: Head of Iran's Quds Force Killed at Baghdad Airport

So now we all wait with anticipation of what Iran will do in retaliation after the US action. If I read president Trump correctly, any Iranian military response will be answered double. If Iran decides to pull back its aggressive efforts to destabilize the Middle East and destroy Israel, president T...

Re: Western Democracies and the invaders

The big question is whether the UK and its citizens have the backbone to assert their culture and heritage against the barbaric practices of the hordes they have invited into their country, and supported the infiltration with generous welfare, housing and cash benefits. I think the abuse of women, t...

Re: The US Hamster Wheel

My knowledge is anecdotal about the condition of farmers in the Thumb of Michigan. I just talk to people, mostly old friends I've known since childhood. Over the years I think that has given me a pretty good feel for the pulse of the agricultural economy up there. The only subsidies I have ever hear...

Not all farmers are doing badly, John Hill . Our family stead is in the Thumb of Michigan. Farmers there have been in clover for several years. The prosperity there is palpable. They don't buy new Mercedes, but new John Deeres. And they want to buy more land which has gone from $3000/acre to $6000/a...
