Re: Anniversary of Turkish invasion of Cyprus

I was at Brize as a Cpl in the General Office. The word went out that they needed volunteers to cope with the admin side of those repatriated. I remember working a full day shift issuing rail warrants as the various aircraft arrived carrying dependents and civilians that had been lifted off the beac...

Some pics from the early/mid 70s. Sure that some of these faces will be all too familiar to old Vulcan hands.

Bet the UK wishes it hadn't given up its Gulf presence at Muharraq, Sharjah, Salalah, and Masirah now.

New Zealand also has a P3 Orion operating in the area for some time this year following NZs last involvement in the area in 2008.

I believe that Australia has one known naval asset in the area on rotation. Afghanistan and Middle East Maritime Security Operation SLIPPER is Australia's military contribution to the international campaign against terrorism, maritime security in the Middle East Area of Operations and countering pir...

There's nothing wrong with the normal Iranian, particularly those who have chosen to leave Iran. The bad apples are the religious nutters and their henchmen.

Re: Earthquake

We are having fun and games in WA at the mo; a biggy just off Broome, another just south of Bali and one in Shark Bay. Hardly unexpected with Australia pushing north at 7cm a year! I’m fully expecting a big one centred on, or close to, Cadoux, not many kms from us as the big lump of granite on which...

Re: War in Australia - Australian Politics

Saint Jacinta of the Blessed Tooth Fairy has been telling Australia what to do again and tells us that we cannot guarantee the friendship between the two countries. What’s she going to do? Send their Air Force to impose their will? Fortunately, despite John Hill’s adoration of the woman, most NZ cit...

Re: Rant of the Day v2.

I flogged my last house at the back end of 2017 after it had been on the market for a year. I took a $200,000 hit on the price. The price I got ($500,000) was sufficient for our needs. One year later I asked the agent what they would market that property for now given a totally stagnated market. $35...
