Re: Can I be unbalanced ?

The manufacturers of such equipment most usually have very clear instructions about what they do - or not - approve of by way of installation requirements with regard to flue length, how many bends etc. If the present flue is too long or wrongly designed for the installation this should be corrected...

Keeping one's cool when faced with frigging failing freezer

Just had a few days away and came back to find that in the coldest weather, the fridge freezer that worked perfectly though the hot summer had all but thawed! In the first instance, this did seem to me to be somewhat absurd but a little research indicated that this is a common problem. I bought this...

Re: WTF is happening in the UK?

Anyone got any bright ideas about how to go about organising and enthusing the great mass of the British Public to grab their sticks, pitch forks and handfuls of large rocks and to head henceforth to congregate at Westminster and demand the immediate departure of the self serving, the sycophants, th...

TGA, as one with such African connections as yourself, I would have though you had heard (!) that the alternative collective nouns for a herd of giraffe are 'tower' and 'corps'... :)

Re: Censoring

Like possibly most folk in the world - this not a provable fact but a determination made from many decades of attentively studying the behaviour of human beings - I don't really give a tinkers dam about what anyone says, bad language etc, least of all on a forum that I can chose to pay attention to ...

Re: Silver linings

Curious and so frustrating when there is no way of easily checking to be certain of a diagnosis. I can find no reference to a 5 04 fault code for Chaffoteaux kit (I am not suggesting you are telling porkies!) but the 5 01 'lack of flame detection' fits very well with your problem. The flame confirma...

Ah. Quality kit then!
Does it show an error code when it refuses to work.
Something like 501 perhaps?

Re: WTF is happening in the UK?

Some years ago, in response to the rise of a narcissistic, megalomaniac and emotionally naive politician, (in Australia, where there is no great lack of such characters!), a journalist compared him to Hitler but was then successfully prosecuted for libel. At the time, feeling myself to be in conside...

Re: Copying data from a smart phone

smartswitch is the Samsung software for communicating between your phone and PC. Have you tried that? I used it recently to get info from a partly defunct phone and was impressed that it actually did the job very well. It asks what information you wish to transfer, contacts being one of the options....

Re: Another 'leccy question

If you are so keen, then install (or have installed by that competent person) two separate consumer units, one to feed the generator items and one to feed the rest of the house. The regular supply feeds the rest-of-the-house direct as at present but is connected to the generator-only consumer unit v...

Re: Another 'leccy question

Following on with PNs simple solution, wire the pump to a socket so that normally it runs from the mains. Install a second adjacent socket that will be connected to the generator. At the time of a power cut, simply start the genny, and change the plug to the second socket. Of course you might want t...

There's no need to make a song and dance about it!
