As I say, it's a question, not an accusation.
Post #42 would be just some of the reasons it isn't the crew's fault.

Re: Boots and brakes
7 July 1986 https://aviation-safety.net/wikibase/138054 We were the junior course on 3 Sqn, 4 FTS, RAF Valley. We'd just escaped groundschool for part of the day to get our helmets refitted by the doc*, and one of the guys was looking out the window on the Sqn, which was less than 400m from the thre...

Re: Baltimore bridge collapse
There may be a number of reasons why it was not on the ship's officers. We do not know who certified the in-port electrical problems were fixed. This may have been a repair company. This may be a situation where the d@mn thing just broke (again), despite the repairs being correctly done. It may be a...

Re: Baltimore bridge collapse
Makes sense. And of course dropping the port anchor first is also correct. The remaining question, given the recent information about the ship having serious electrical problems in port, is do the crew get several thousand Brownie Points for doing everything possible when the crisis happened, but lo...

Re: Baltimore bridge collapse
However, as we are both skippers, we know it would be at the forefront of the Captain's mind as to the turning effect of which, or both, anchors to drop. Nobody wants the anchor chain wrapped round the bow. Of course, we don't know if it was possible to choose which. The track seems to indicate a sl...

Re: Baltimore bridge collapse
The crux of the problem would appear to be the lack of an uninterrupted power supply to the Dali's rudder and associated controls.
Even with the engine(s) gone, being able to maintain steering would have made this accident avoidable.

Re: Millions of us might be **** if we ignore the Russian-Ukraine war
BOAC - thanks Any chance of repeating that link you gave me before for viewing the mil activity? Probes - Conspiracy theory I note that page has been taken down too. I also noted they have now identified the guy I did, at 0:01 on the original video, as one of the agents. No other media seems to be e...

Re: Baltimore bridge collapse
In 40 seconds, to put out a Mayday, attempt to regain power, drop anchor, and make a final attempt to stop and/or steer clear, sounds like the crew and pilot did their best.

Didn't look like a faked video to me.
Just as well we got a look quickly - thanks for posting!
I suspect it will reappear by tomorrow. The Internet never forgets.

Re: Baltimore bridge collapse
5. The Key Bridge had no redundancy The Dali seems to have been on a steady course directly between the bridge pillars. The track shows two very slight course deviations to starboard, which could be one smooth change allowing for the update of the tracker. The initial deviation would seem to match t...

GJnODylWMAISnVt copy.jpg Other significant consequences: Baltimore is a major import point for autos, especially Mazda, Mitsubishi, Subaru, Volkswagen, and Mercedes Benz. However, the Sparrows Point wharfs do show an auto transporter ship moored up on satellite views, so this may be a workaround. T...
