Local Russian Telegram channels are reporting that the limestone quarry that got the ATACMS strike I mentioned was hiding Iskander SSBM launchers.
Sounds like a good strike, as it's a very capable system.

Media is dead.
Now they are so incestuous they have media interviewing media about artificial media that will speak to media.

First dawn through the new east windows I fitted yesterday.
They need cleaning, but there's a fair bit more light than the old ones.
And having swapped sash windows for big fixed pane ones, the scots pines in the middle distance are now framed like a picture, it's lovely.

Re: New Self-Assessment Tool for American Airlines Pilots
Do pilots ever get pushed deliberately to their capacity limit to see what happens? Once I got all the handling and mouth music sorted whilst learning spinning in the RAF, my instructor then asked me to start counting backwards in 17s from 243 as well whilst doing the next one. Being pushed to one'...

Re: New Self-Assessment Tool for American Airlines Pilots
We had a playback facility on the Tornado F3 sim 35 years ago. I can't recall a single occasion when it was used for the direct benefit of the crew.* Of course, the sim instructors were keeping notes, so in the debriefs an instructor was able to answer immediately questions like; "How low did our ai...

Re: The really boring and totally pointless snippets thread V
My first TV (CRT) was a Toshiba, lasted 18 years and I only binned it because the power switch had gone (stuck on ON, fortunately) and I was emigrating. Current TV 59", great for movies (I only watch from DVDs also). Quite fancy an 4K HDR screen next, but plan on having it behind a retractable decor...

Re: Millions of us might be **** if we ignore the Russian-Ukraine war
Small Russian assault - tank with two BMPs advance. Russian tank fires at (possible) Ukrainian position. I'm guessing this is just standard fire-at-anywhere-that-might-hide-an-ATGM-team. However, the smoke from the barrel and surrounding dust stirred up makes the Russian tank obvious. Ukrainian tank...

Big ATACMS strike north of Yevpatoria, Crimea. The NASA IR satellite is showing a huge fire here https://firms.modaps.eosdis.nasa.gov/map/#d:24hrs;@33.73,45.45,14.00z (zoom out for general location. Also note that the hotspot on the edge of the military airfield to the south appears to be an industr...

Re: Chaos in USA
The down-ticket Republicans getting elected in marginals was one of the questionable things. There were, in some marginal districts, large numbers of late-counted votes that only had Biden ticked, not anyone down downticket. And this was not at all like the votes earlier, or the districts where late...

I see Boris's sloping shoulders have such an angle on them now that his torso almost looks like a stick!
Although obviously that's not his fault either.

The basic problem is that the World's ocean-going navies aren't doing anything about piracy, mainly because the only viable method is the same as it ever was, sink the pirates with gunfire. And governments are afraid of the media reaction.

Re: The really boring and totally pointless snippets thread V
My cousin and his then girlfriend drifted into a bar in Ireland on a Sunday. The bar keeper drifted over and announced "I'm sorry, I can't serve you now, it's Holy Hour" "Not a problem", they said, understanding. A few minutes later, polishing a glass, he drifted back "Would ye like a drink while ye...

Re: The really boring and totally pointless snippets thread V
I recall one misty, hazy morning over the Straits of Gibraltar, when one of our crews decided to bounce what they thought was an enemy aircraft out searching for the fleet we were defending. At the last second, the blob clarified into a submarine conning tower. They escaped by the skin of their teet...

Re: The really boring and totally pointless snippets thread V
I am pulling off all the trim from two windows which need replacing. Underneath is a potted History of Canadian Wallcoverings of the Last 100 Years. They never removed anything, just slapped more on top. One floor I did earlier had 18 layers. Also included is a History of Canadian Fasteners: Nails, ...

Re: The really boring and totally pointless snippets thread V
When I took a party of schoolgirls to Florida 20 years ago, it was illegal in that State for women to skydive on Sundays. So we had to shift to Monday. I believe they have now rescinded that law. Town ordinance are even more ridiculous. ISTR that there are State rules in the Rockies that require a c...
