Interesting, but my apologies. I meant to say EV mechanics.
There are none here. None of the dealerships sell EVs either. I understand it may be the cost of the EV-specific equipment and training vs the number of EV sales.

Re: Electric Cars II - Not Silly!
Great.
Anecdotal data is all we really have now.
Arizona is as close to ideal as it gets for EV use/charging, rural Canada about the worst.
I'd be interested in sales, and his business model too.
What's the local situation like for mechanics?

Re: Electric Cars II - Not Silly!
Only the $10,000 Chinese EV will actually make a difference. Selling one for a bit less than current new vehicles is just window dressing. Most people drive used vehicles, and indeed have never owned a new vehicle. There is no significant used EV market. The used EV dealers here went from 3 to 1 to ...

Today's US GDP data was not only lower than the consensus, but lower than any of the estimates. Today's US Core inflation data was not only higher than the consensus, but higher than any of the estimates. For at least 9 months, the central banks and governments have been saying they are data-depende...

Re: Millions of us might be **** if we ignore the Russian-Ukraine war
I have noticed on a few videos that Russian citizens do start heading to cover if their side starts firing at the drones. There has been some evidence that the missiles and shells fired by their own side DO end up in civilian areas, including Russian SAMs sticking out of house walls, plus of course ...

Re: Millions of us might be **** if we ignore the Russian-Ukraine war
Thanks for the translation, it was pretty much what the tone and graphics had already told me. I am curious, since the Ukrainians having been hitting places up to 1,500 km into Russia already, why this should be a big thing. Is it because ATACMS is more accurate, or because the Russians have been pr...

Yes, I see that as the trade-off also. They will keep hitting Russian domestic/military storage, but not refineries. And with ATACMS now available, more than 100 already according to a US official today, I think the Ukes did the right thing in attacking the refineries when they did. There are a coup...

Moody's just downrated Boeing to Baa3, one level above Junk, with a negative outlook.
Stock dropped 7.5% on the news.

Re: Flower Pot Irrigation
I would suggest a gravity fed solution. It is much cheaper. Most prepackaged watering systems (e.g. Orbit, above) are designed for pressurised systems, i.e. from mains water, and the fancy timers won't work with a low pressure, gravity system. You can buy battery powered timers suitable for such low...

There is now an Apple Migration Assistant.
With a title like that you'd maybe expect them to provide you with a rubber dinghy and an asylum claim form, but apparently it does data transfer from Windows to Mac

Oh yes. Copper is very stealable, worldwide. Quite a lot of thieves will steal it whilst it's live.
Not all of them have insulating gloves.
EVs, data centres and AI will only increase demand in the future.

The Government’s modelling of the benefits of immigration has consistently overlooked the fiscal costs arising from pressure on housing, public services and welfare. That’s the ideological consensus I want to take on. The mass low-skilled migration we have experienced has in fact been a burden on t...

It's a compatibility problem. Your Spanish keyboard doesn't even wake up till 11am. Your British PC has been available for work since 8am, but has now mysteriously disappeared on a "tea break" now that the keyboard is available for work. The tea break, plus "delivery issues' will last until ten past...
