Sevastopol under Ukrainian missile attack again.
Wonder what's left?
Couldn't happen to a nicer bunch of occupiers.

Re: Chaos in USA
The basic problem is that the average Joe, not just in America, will vote for the big party candidates rather than pick an independent. Thus the money men put all their effort into ensuring they have corrupt idiots as big party candidates who will do as they are told. I am a fan of republican (or he...

Re: Boots and brakes
Thanks for the better picture. Yes, the (normal) boot heels rested between the lower cup and the upper horizontal projections. These stopped your heels sliding off the pedals. You can see the toe brakes higher up. I think the pedals were connected by a crosspiece, but that was further forward out of...

Re: Boots and brakes
The Hawk rudder pedals are cupped. The back of the heel rests on the cup, rather than the cockpit floor. It isn't possible to have the feet on the cockpit floor. novo-cockpit-hawk-finlandia-foto-CMC.jpg The pilot's toes are therefore always over the toe brakes. I think I'm right in saying that as Ma...

Re: Chaos in USA
I have been following https://www.realclearpolitics.com/ Kennedy seems to be the topic of the week. Every side seems to think Kennedy will hurt Biden more than Trump. Indeed, any Third party candidates in any elections will hurt the Dems more than the Republicans. There are assorted attempts across ...

Re: Baltimore bridge collapse
As I say, it's a question, not an accusation.
Post #42 would be just some of the reasons it isn't the crew's fault.

Re: Boots and brakes
7 July 1986 https://aviation-safety.net/wikibase/138054 We were the junior course on 3 Sqn, 4 FTS, RAF Valley. We'd just escaped groundschool for part of the day to get our helmets refitted by the doc*, and one of the guys was looking out the window on the Sqn, which was less than 400m from the thre...

Re: Baltimore bridge collapse
There may be a number of reasons why it was not on the ship's officers. We do not know who certified the in-port electrical problems were fixed. This may have been a repair company. This may be a situation where the d@mn thing just broke (again), despite the repairs being correctly done. It may be a...

Re: Baltimore bridge collapse
Makes sense. And of course dropping the port anchor first is also correct. The remaining question, given the recent information about the ship having serious electrical problems in port, is do the crew get several thousand Brownie Points for doing everything possible when the crisis happened, but lo...

Re: Baltimore bridge collapse
However, as we are both skippers, we know it would be at the forefront of the Captain's mind as to the turning effect of which, or both, anchors to drop. Nobody wants the anchor chain wrapped round the bow. Of course, we don't know if it was possible to choose which. The track seems to indicate a sl...

Re: Baltimore bridge collapse
The crux of the problem would appear to be the lack of an uninterrupted power supply to the Dali's rudder and associated controls.
Even with the engine(s) gone, being able to maintain steering would have made this accident avoidable.

Re: Millions of us might be **** if we ignore the Russian-Ukraine war
BOAC - thanks Any chance of repeating that link you gave me before for viewing the mil activity? Probes - Conspiracy theory I note that page has been taken down too. I also noted they have now identified the guy I did, at 0:01 on the original video, as one of the agents. No other media seems to be e...
