Re: Retrospective on Calibri crash in 2019

Beg pardon - Cabri - not Calibri which is nearly like a fag lighter but more like a font!

Re: Fatal helicopter crash near Yorkshire Dales.

Good grief - agree with that - a Robbo would have disassembled itself on the way down. Definitely a sturdy little machine for them to survive with minor injuries.

A goldfish bowl - it seems like the type can't be blamed for this.

Calibri also the type in the Yorkshire crash.

Re: Another Navy Wings article...

A sad sight C16.

A more leisurely arrival between fixed wing commissions. Th flight deck is cluttered with bootneck stuff.

Re: Argentina’s Falkland Invasion a complete surprise? (1)

I thoroughly recommend a read of Chris Parry's account of his time down south as Flight Observer in HMS Antrim Flight, entitled 'Down South', which also includes an account of landing the SAS on the west side of South Georgia on a glacier and retrieving them again, an operation which accounted for t...

Re: Back in the air...

I recall when doing my 10 hours in a Whirlwind at RAF Shawbury that if you took your hand off the cyclic the stick would topple as it felt fit taking the hecolipeter with it =)) Yes the Whirlwind - Mk7 I trained on and guessing it was the Mk10 you flew at Shawbury - had no stick trim so it was righ...

Re: Cute Pet Pictures

Ours was good/bad too. I thought I had him trapped and better still his claws as well, with his head up the tight sleeve of an old jumper. In the struggle to get the pill in his mouth he somehow managed to squeeze through the sleeve. We wanted a moggie just before I was going away to sea for nine mo...

Very interesting BM but I think the New Zealand thread would be a better place for it. As usual it's wrong in the usual ways you spout. Try reading the online newspapers - it's always good to know more about what you're ranting about. The world has known for quite a while that the vaccinations don't...

Re: The Capetonian WOE Thread

I used to rock climb and sometimes do some mountain climbs there with family/friends and later school friends. We converted an old pill box to use instead of tents with the help of the retired and previous owner of the Pen y Gwryd hotel, Major Lockwood. The ridge walk Crib Goch has amazing exposure ...

Re: The Capetonian WOE Thread

Surprised that the statue is still standing. Bet some idiot can find that his great, great grandfather owned a toilet brush bought from a crewman on a slave ship. My very favourite piece of music. Agree - particularly at the Cenotaph. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QNqf2BHmD8E The photo looks like...
