From that website: Gas masks and hard hats are provided as this active volcano is still very much alive. Its seismic activity is closely monitored although the island is usually on an alert level rating of 1 or 2 on a scale from 0 to 5. Before yesterday I had really no idea that tourist-parties were...

Why didn't the ship send a tender? They should have enough breathing apparatus for the crew.

Another thundery thing in the sky to the south of us. A cold-weather storm. Very odd. Do you chaps living in snowy countries ever get thunderstorms in winter ?
I recall "thundersnow" during at least one winter, most uncanny sound.

Re: The really boring and totally pointless snippets thread IV

Thanks for all good wishes. I survived. Target artery was too narrow to risk, but they popped a couple of other stents in elsewhere. A week of nothing strenuous, and back to what passes for normal. "Strenuous" apparently includes vacuuming carpets. Result! :) Glad that's done, Magnus. Take care, be...

Re: World Cup in Japan - Rugby Union

I think that moment when Wales managed to equalise was the most exciting I've heard in a long time :YMPARTY: and I'm sorry they didn't win.

Semi-finals and of course finals of just about anything are great stuff in my opinion.
