Re: Friday Jokes

We holiday in Italy each year. I once counted her shoes. 8 pairs. How did we spend our days? Feckn shoe-shopping.

Back to Friday jokes. On father's day, one daughter bought me a pack of 101 Dad jokes. Everybody now hates her. :)

Re: Electric Cars II - Not Silly!

Our house was built in 1927, and the leccy supply is, I believe, rated at 60A. With electric cars, and the possible move to a heat pump, 60A is inadequate, and 100A recommended. Who's going to pay for it?

There are still microlight flights operating. MrsP took the adventure about 4 years ago.

Re: Another in the series 'world-famous-in-new-zealand'

I must drag my sorry, saggy arse to the Museum of flight near Edinburgh, as I'm now unlikely to visit New Zealand, I'm afraid. I did spend an hour or two at the Davis-Monthan "boneyard" near Tucson. Compelling and spooky at the same time.

Re: Wot's for Tea, Ma?

Hoisin chicken tonight. Pot-roast brisket tomorrow. It's a lazy weekend in the kitchen for Magnus. Last night, we had Thai-style fishcakes from the local fishmonger. I bought 4, but when I put the first 2 in the pan I realised I had over-purchased. We now have 2 delicious fishcakes in the freezer fo...

Orft to bella Italia tomorrow for a few days' R&R. If the leg holds out, we're going back in August for a couple of weeks. I hope the restaurant in Malcesine still features the octopus carpaccio.

Re: What book are you currently reading?

Lots of crappy stuff on the Kindle app, but in terms of a "real" book, it's Eddie Jones' "Leadership". Excellent, and not just for rugby fans.

I liked the clever American technique of printing a fly under the enamel. Men cannot avoid aiming at the fly.

Re: Wot's for Tea, Ma?

Grilled Whiting fillets and a simple garden salad of lettuce, tomato, red onion and capsicum with a honey/mustard dressing. Whiting is hard to find here, as it's seen as inferior. I much prefer it to haddock as I like the finer flakes. My local fishmonger says he likes it too, but there's not enough ...

Re: No more HuntsMAN!

Didn't mind the odd huntsman around the house. Redbacks were squished as they can cause problems in young children, and the girls were 1 and 4 when we lived dunnunda.

Re: The really boring and totally pointless snippets thread V

Why are grandchildren so pointy?? I managed to trip over in the garden a few days ago and have bruised/cracked a rib. Our darling gremlin wanted to watch cartoons on Monday, so I agreed to 15 minutes (Simon's Cat, if anyone cares). Now she likes to get REALLY snuggled in to my side for TV time with ...

Re: Friday Jokes

When I was, perhaps, six years old, I was raised from my bed to see an owl in my father's car. It was perched on the rear parcel shelf. My father had hit the owl whilst driving and stopped to pick up the 'body' to bring home for me to see. During the journey, the owl had recovered and taken up its ...
