Re: Jubilee / Trooping of the Colour
BBC commentary cock up as usual; C17 & A400M misidentified as Poseidon and Rivet Joint. Hugh Edwards obviously not reading the line up. High wing, low wing, two engines, four engines - not that difficult to remember or read off the script as, thankfully, the Welsh windbag wasn't in camera shot. Nine...

Re: Censoring
Here we go again. A few ramblings that may be relevant to some. As a long term reader, but an infrequent poster, I’ve often felt moved to comment over the past few weeks. As an infrequent poster, I infrequently log on by name but log on at least daily as a guest. So I’ve doubtless missed much of the...

Posted this rant about 4 years ago - little appears to have changed apart from the withdrawal of passenger 747's. Time for a good rant – bigjet.tv – a channel that live streams on Faecesbook and YouTube twice a week at LHR, LGW, MAN and a few others. Presenter is some infantile 40 something year old...

Re: The Capetonian WOE Thread
So rare for me to get even close. My memory thought it was rather higher but a great place to work watching all the shipping in the harbour - no sign of high vis or anything related to safety. Many days spent watching the approaches to 13 and when the heavens were torn open you knew a CAAC Trident 3...

Looks similar to one of the arcades in Kowloon - Ocean Terminal maybe - from memory the top two floors were car parks where we put all our ventilation equipment. Spent many weeks there on an asbestos removal project in the late 80's

Re: The really boring and totally pointless snippets thread V
I post today as a daily reader but infrequent poster - largely because I remain amazed at how much time posters have to post. It now appears that we have a Spanish resident that uses one four-letter word thought by some to be mildly offensive; and we have one Scottish resident who uses another four-...

Take off your Brexit biased goggles - a large number of P&O boats sitting in dock doing nothing - will have had a huge impact on capacity.

New one today. An Arabic sounding gentleman who has around $2.5m in gold and around $13m in jewellery - naturally enough already held by a courier company. He'd give me 40% if I could help him out by sending a helicopter to rescue him and his family from 20km outside Kabul. I imagine the hire rates ...

I presume Alison and others with PNG experience are aware of Missionary Bush Pilot and his YouTube channel showing his trips in the Kodiak seemingly based in Goroka. If not - worth a look.

I've no doubt she will - in fairness to her she tried every defence in the book including a heavy reliance on the great shock and personal turmoil in having to re-think everything she knew about an old friend. A very theatrical performance choking back the tears. The convener had (deliberately??) te...

Having spent many years in Court in a professional capacity - thought this was wonderful entertainment. UP thanks for the background by someone clearly in the know. I thought the Murrells arrangement was one of convenience so tonight is probably no different to any other. Better book my seat for nex...

Engines are easy enough to change - type for type simple replacement - many YouTube videos available of 777 engine changes in time lapse. I believe that each engine manufacturer has a slightly different pylon and attachments so unless one spends significant amounts of cash you are stuck with the eng...

All you need to get started is a suitable vehicle with a valid MOT and SDP insurance, a full valid UK driving licence, the right to work in the UK and no unspent criminal convictions. Pretty sure that SDP insurance wouldn't cover you when driving for paid employment. I used to need Class 1 Business...

GG - if you haven't already got a decent solicitor (unlike estate agents there are a few that aren't robbin barstewards) - try your local branch of Age Concern they have lists of trusted traders (although I'm sure a solicitor would get upset about being called a trade). Ours was from such a list and...

Never thought I'd be posting on this thread but I've just had this forwarded to me. Outstanding in a couple of ways. Part of an amusing series; never realised what a huge volume of work Toyah has produced and has re-awakened my interest in King Crimson. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=khkKfMotNoI Ho...

Re: AN-124 in trouble
Surely any engine containment system is only ever designed to cope with the loss of one fan blade - a relatively low energy event when compared to the loss of a turbine disc as was the case here. No present sytems will contain that - think Qantas A380 or for those with good memories the Sioux City D...

Ex-A - from memory it looks like the Lenham Cross - one of many chalk figures cut into the North Downs. I believe first completed in 1922 as a memorial to those lost in WW1 - now I believe a national monument. Often flew over it when gliding from nearby Challock perched atop the North Downs. I'm sur...

Had to go the back way to avoid the fallen trees. (via Golden Pot ?) Went past my old flying ground of QLA a month or so ago - The Golden Pot now a Turkish restaurant. In spite of its proximity to QLA I've never been in always preferring The Royal Oak in Lasham itself - a short stagger back to the ...

Re - the invasion fleet. We were down in K3's neck of the woods last week. We'd always seen a few stray ships/boats in Torbay but never seen anything that can carry pax before. Seven when we were there but subsequent research with the AIS app shows many more; and many in Lyme Bay; many east of Weymo...
