Don't worry your heads about the cleanliness of the rails. The loco pulling the wreckage from the tunnel is /was situated on brand new rails which were laid specifically for this job.

Thanks chaps The problem, as I see it, is the alignment of the interface pins with the internal fixed bus. Here's a picture of a similar disk .
