Re: The Cook Islands

Thanks for the Links Grumpy! I do a LOT of snorkelling around these parts so have my own gear. Especially Mask & Snorkel!!! The snorkeling inside the reef was almost as good as outside of it. Corals better outside but fish the same inside, just smaller. Only disappointment was lack of pelagic fish ...

All that I had was an old iPad that has a very tired battery. They want almost what a used iPad costs just to replace the battery. ~X( Consult YouTube, see if there's a step-by-step guide to replacing the battery yourself. I've done that to a few phones and laptops, although we don't have Apple pro...

At a previous place of employment I had numerous encounters with The Rich, The Rich and Famous, Those Who Thought They Were Famous, and quite a few other types. CEOs, entertainers, sports figures, politicians, etc. Just like amongst "commoners" they run the gamut from genuinely nice, caring people t...

Our ships visited Copenhagen in 1967 and nearly all the cadets went to visit the brewery. Carlsberg and Tuborg tastings after the lecture were excellent. Sadly I've now lost the little enamel elephant lapel badge.
A good excuse to go back for another.

Re: The Cook Islands

Went on a dive trip there '96 or '97. We stayed at one of the resorts and did one or two 2-tank dives a day outside the reefs. The rest of the time was either snorkeling in the lagoon, riding scooters around the 4 X 5 mile island, or drinking beer in the pool. Food and beer at the resort was very ex...

Neighbor across the street recently had an additional foot or so of insulation blown into his attic. I was there when he was getting a spiel from a different insulation installer who quoted ~$10,000 + for the job. A different installer did the job for less than 20% of the first quote. I plan to have...

First official 100o F temp. recorded today. [-X
I have managed to not use the A/C yet as overnight temps are cool enough to leave doors and windows open then close them as OAT equals indoor temp. #:-S
Not looking forward to electric bills when 24/7 A/C will be necessary. :-ss :-q

Like Fox3, I learned to fly before I had a driving licence...but my steed was rather more mundane, a Piper PA28.
D#1 is also a member of your club.
