The gnomes are correct, it is St Michael's Mount but looking at the house from the seaward side. Well worked out G-Man, Mrs S and I went across to the Mount the day before visiting Helston for Flora Day.
G-Man has the chair.

Re: The really boring and totally pointless snippets thread V
Spent the day in Helston, Cornwall today as it is Flora Day when folk dance through the streets gents dressed in top hats and tails and ladies in long dresses following a brass band playing the famous tune. This will be familiar to some of our fraternity who spent time at Culdrose. I had not attende...

Like Fox3, I learned to fly before I had a driving licence...but my steed was rather more mundane, a Piper PA28.

Re: Rainmakers in Dubai
Lived in four Middle Eastern countries, Qatar, Kuwait, Bahrain and Abu Dhabi for a total of seven years, it rained in every one at some time. Each time it resulted in some degree of flooding as the infrastructure was not designed to cope with any significant rain.

It was a lovely morning here in Norfolk. Played golf, teeing off at 7.32, had a sausage bap and a couple of pints sitting in the sun outside the clubhouse afterwards, before returning home and mowing the front lawn. Time for a rest.

Re: My first car
Mine was the ubiquitous Morris 1000, 1963 vintage. Bought it for £50 after I finished my degree course in 1974 and got a job as a plasterers labourer. Third party, fire and theft insurance cost me £52! Got me to work every day around numerous work sites in London and made quite a few trips from Lond...

Re: ISAs
I believe you can. Have just added the same, max amount, to existing ISA, but could have put it in any other ISA product. The limit for investment in ISAs is £20k per year and as it is now a new tax year (since 6th April) you can invest another £20k.

Exactly right! It is indeed Groote Schuur Hospital. The world's first heart transplant was carried out there in 1967 by a certain Christiaan Barnard. I was referred there in about 1976 and passed Dr Barnard in the entrance.

Re: The Capetonian WOE Thread
Sorry for the delay, currently away from home in Scotland. An old photo this time of a building that was very famous in the late 1960's for something that occurred there.
