Re: The really boring and totally pointless snippets thread V

I am currently lying in hospital (planned) awaiting 3:30 tomorrow when I expect I will be relieved of a polyp on my internal exhaust pipe.
Just had my first (and last) 'sustainance' of the day - a mug of Oxo cube in hot water.
Cavok outside.

Re: The really boring and totally pointless snippets thread V

Strange how the address of Mistress came to have a different meaning to 'wife'.

Re: The really boring and totally pointless snippets thread V

When we had solar panels installed last year they came with wire fencing to prevent birds accessing under the panels. Might be worth thinking about that, there seem to be a few different systems available on line. GG Yes thanks for that GG, I have seen the fencing. Our panels have been on the roof ...

Re: My first car

I was feeling amorous with an earlier girlfriend, and I suggested that she should get into the back (of my estate car). :D
She declined, saying that she wanted to stay in the front with me . . . ^!

Re: My first car

I had a Rootes Audax Sunbeam Rapier Series IIIA. Engine big-end and main bearings 'went'. I laid underneath it and removed the crankshaft, which 'fell' onto me and winded me. It took me a while to recover sufficiently to extricate myself from the predicament. My then girlfriend (later my wife) claim...

How would Britain fare against a weapon onslaught such as seen in Israel last night?

I thought it was that men died WITH prostate cancer rather than because of it.

Re: The really boring and totally pointless snippets thread V

I believe there are repair shops where you can "Watch batteries fitted."

Useful if you should ever have the need to change your own watch battery.

Re: Friday Jokes

My first car was a Morris 1000 Traveller which I modified for track use with a Formula Junior engine and (all-round) lowered suspension. Only unintended modification was to roll it end-over-end during an unofficial practice session on the perimeter track of a no-longer-used RAF airfield (we had the ...

Persistent precipitation - can't venture out to top up the bird feeders.

I guess they will survive.

Not seen the pheasant for a week - he used to be a daily visitor.

Maybe you should appoint a Minister for Drought? In the last week of August 1976, days after Denis Howell was appointed 'Minister for Drought', severe thunderstorms brought rain to some places for the first time in weeks. September and October 1976 were both very wet months, bringing to an end the g...

Plane CRASH!
Thousands not killed!

Apparently 'No-one' was injured (again) . . .
"No-one" seems to be accident-prone.

Re: Desktop Won’t Wake Up

I used to frequent the (only) local computer shop and over the years have bought all my (secondhand) computers from them.
Recently a new 'front of house' chap has been employed and he is not as amenable as the owner.

Re: Desktop Won’t Wake Up

Check 'internal' connections (if you feel happy opening the casing).
If necessary unplug data cables and re-seat.

Some plugs can be 'iffy' IME.

Anyone have troubleshooting ideas before I have to disconnect everything and take it to the computer repair place ? :-?

Have you tried turning it off then turning it on?

Usually works for me . . . :D
