An Alaskan man has been killed by a moose that charged suddenly while he was trying to take photographs of its two calves. Dale Chorman, 70, was caught off guard as the animal attacked on his property in the town of Homer. Mr Chorman died at the scene. His son said he realised the moose was protect...

A union representing Boeing employees held a training session last week on whistleblower protection rights, suggesting the troubled jetmaker's problems may be far from over. Re: Rant of the Day v2.

When we had rodent problems moving in (or returning) to a house, our cats took care of the issue. Probably not such a good solution when there are coyotes to take care of the cats. It would be interesting to see a coyote take on an Australian feral cat. They grow huge, and I've seen one chase a fox...

Almost half of all noise complaints in Australia last year were filed by the same person, who complained 20,716 times He lives under the flightpath for Perth Airport. That's an average of over 56 complaints a day. He must have a decibel meter attached to a computer to auto-generate a complaint if i...

Dog show today, took Faraday and Cassini, with two of Faraday's puppies, Lucy and Artemis, also entered. Faraday shows as a veteran now, when the entry class is available (dogs 7 years and older), and the tradition is that when they run round the ring, everyone applauds them. She picked up Select, w...

Looks like a neat job. A replacement thermostat is available, but access is via the rear of the oven. Normally I'd have no qualms about turning off at t the cb, and replacing it, but I don't fancy doing any heavy work at present. Doesn't look like it has an adjusting screw, but I may take the front...

Some of these things depend on how confident you are at reassembling things (dismantling is usually easy...) I've replaced various parts on several domestic appliances over the years - if you can narrow down the fault, use a search engine to look for spares for the model number in question and chanc...

Very interesting.
Orcas will eat whales. He probably pulled the boats out so they'd kill a whale and he could catch a meal while they were chopping up the carcass.

Hello from California. Nice warm day today, doesn't seem to be as toasty as yesterday. Did some FastCAT with Faraday this weekend, she's slowing down now, so definitely just for fun rather thank rankings now. However, two of her puppies are currently the fastest Leonbergers in the country this year.
