Re: Duxford.

Pilot didn't make it. A man who died after a private plane crashed at a well-known airfield has been named by friends and colleagues as pilot Simon Riggs. Emergency services were called to Imperial War Museum (IWM) Duxford, Cambridgeshire, at about 13:41 GMT on Tuesday. The victim, aged in his 50s a...

Re: Baltimore bridge collapse

Inevitably the local media started talking about how safe the Bay Area bridges are, and we are reassured that they're much safer than the one that collapsed, being designed to withstand earthquakes and similar major upsets. They also pointed out that a lot of the bridge supports are in relatively sh...

Re: The really boring and totally pointless snippets thread V

Morning all, currently sunny out after an earlier shower. Last night around 19:30 the power glitched for 5-10 seconds. Then a bit later it glitched again and then went out completely. Came back on just after midnight. The power brick I bought for the van came in handy, provided power for lights and ...

Re: Chaos in North Korea

Alan Titchmarsh gains street cred! North Korea's state television channel has censored a BBC gardening programme - by blurring out presenter Alan Titchmarsh's trousers. Central TV aired a 2010 edition of Alan Titchmarsh's Garden Secrets for its morning audience, but made sure that viewers could not ...

Well, apparently they did, but according to Sly News, Russia's ambassador to Poland did not attend the foreign ministry in Warsaw today despite being summoned to do so. Arrogance personified. A diplomatic note will be sent by another means, the foreign ministry said. So if Poland stationed some ant...

Here it is folks the list no one knew that they needed :)) https://www.danwoottonoutspoken.com/p/the-fifty-worst-people-in-the-uk Fortunately I've never heard of several of them until reading their names on that list. I do wonder what the left-wing equivalent list would be, then we could have fun m...

Re: Millions of us might be **** if we ignore the Russian-Ukraine war

I guess the terms "drone" and "UAV" have collided a bit. To me, that's big enough to be a UAV, I consider a drone to be more the small quadcopter type of thing.

I thought they'd had something similar for the Shuttle, given its lack of other obvious escape mechanisms - down the line, take cover in a shelter and hope to survive the pressure wave of the blast.

Re: More Boeing Bad News

I always thought the big plus of a jet was the lack of moving parts. Just that one big spinny thing (occasionally two) in the middle, and a few valves. Chucking in a load of gears is just asking for more trouble, although I guess they're using the record of turbopros as a starting point for putting ...

A stingy old lawyer who had been diagnosed with a terminal illness was determined to prove wrong the saying, "You can't take it with you."
