You can be sure that if such things were necessary, someone would have invented a much better alternative by now.

Re: The really boring and totally pointless snippets thread V

Had a BIG hailstorm at lunchtime, clouds bumping into each other, sparks flying and heavy hail. Driving El Toyota around I realised that Left rear was quite low pressure, found a wind machine which charged a euro, it's new, used to be a freebe. Thing is it only took cards. Shape of things coming I ...

Re: The really boring and totally pointless snippets thread V

I invested in an electric pump. It uses the same battery packs as a bunch of my other power tools, and I carry it and a pack in the van. The cars have to make do with pumps that plug in the cigar lighter socket, but that's still easier than having to use a footpump.

Re: Delta flight makes emergency return after exit slide separates from Boeing aircraft

It was a 767, it'll be a maintenance issue so I don't blame Boeing for this one, even though their name is associated with the aircraft.

Delta flight makes emergency return after exit slide separates from Boeing aircraft

A Delta Air Lines flight that departed from John F. Kennedy International Airport in New York City was forced to make an emergency return to the airport Friday morning after an emergency slide came apart from the Boeing 767, the airline said. A search for the slide was ongoing. "After the aircraft ...

I guess I'm lucky that they stopped bugging me some years ago. I assume some of it may depend on what presence you still have in the UK - I have nothing, so presumably they have decided I really am non-resident. We did have a few years in the early days where they'd demand a tax return from either m...

Re: Electric Cars II - Not Silly!

Another thing to consider is how much maintenance an EV needs compared to a petrol car. Basic stuff such as brakes and wheels is going to be the same, and I guess if it's a single-motor car then there is some form of transmission, but I wouldn't expect it to need much routine maintenance. Anything e...

All that I had was an old iPad that has a very tired battery. They want almost what a used iPad costs just to replace the battery. ~X( Consult YouTube, see if there's a step-by-step guide to replacing the battery yourself. I've done that to a few phones and laptops, although we don't have Apple pro...

PP this is one of the reasons why you should always carry out your checks You are not seriously expecting pilots to bend down and look under the engines, are you? They might get dizzy or lose their balance or spill their take-away coffee - and it might be raining......... =)) Surely if it's raining...

OK, no it isn't anywhere near there, that was guess based on the origin of the symbol on the side. It's the Elephant Gate at the Carlsberg Brewery in Copenhagen.

One of Faraday's puppies is following in her footsteps. First weekend running FastCAT, Mini will have a published score of 24.51 when the paperwork is finally complete. That puts her top of the rankings this year (assuming there's no other fast Leos out there also awaiting paperwork processing) and ...

Re: My first car

I have lived in Bath twice, Llondel, so you have my understanding and sympathy! It's a nice place - I was impressed with myself when, on visiting after a 15 year absence, I still remembered how to navigate my way through the city without assistance of any maps or gadgets. Definitely not flat though!

I had al All-aggro for my first car. Did about 400 miles on a pint of oil, I could lay down smokescreens hundreds of yards long. It had a square steering wheel, too. Changed car within a year.

Afternoon all, nice warm day here. Just got back from the Leonberger Nationals in New Mexico. They finished last week but we took an extra one to drive back more slowly. Visited Roswell to see the aliens, White Sands and the cliff dwellings at Gila, as well as Los Alamos. Yesterday was the Petrified...

Re: What on earth happened here? South West at LGA

I find it interesting that none of the automatic alert stuff seems to have flagged the problem.

I wonder if ATC staff pack clean underwear? That was probably better than coffee to wake her up for her shift.
