Re: The Capetonian WOE Thread

I was wondering how you arrived at four tracks, but I guess it's the width of the bridge. Two District Line tracks and a couple of mainline ones heading off to Upminster and Sarfend/Shoeburyness. It is indeed Elm Park Station. I used to walk to school across that bridge. Back then there was a clear ...

Re: The Capetonian WOE Thread

It's the Foryd Bridge on the River Clwyd in Rhyl. The yacht club is down to the left of that picture. To the left is the harbour bridge, off to the right is the railway bridge.

I naively tried Dr Google with "Blue Bridge Wales" and it actually worked.

Re: HMS Defender, Russia and all that stuff

Nice head fake by Integrity Initiative there! It wos the Russkys wot fed the fake track data of Operation Ditroite to the tame meeja of the Beeb and the Wail, not Integrity Initiative at all. :)) =)) Yes, I did spot the implication as to who they were claiming was responsible. On the other hand, I'...

Re: The really boring and totally pointless snippets thread IV

Media interviews can be good fun. I did a few for the local BBC station a few years back. I assume that the hounds pass on interview requests to you as their agent? ;))) Back then I'd never even considered showing or breeding dogs. This was all about home education, a subject back in the news at th...

Re: Formula One

In the days when there was a fixed quantity of fuel for the whole race then yes, cars did occasionally run out, but back then there probably wasn't a requirement to dispense a litre on demand because it was all provided from a common source under supervision. If the rules are clear that there is exp...

Re: The really boring and totally pointless snippets thread IV

Was having a quiet day at me canal's depot when a fast-ball was served. It would appear that I have been selected from a cast of.....one..... to do an interview with a BBC reporter who wants to talk to one of the restorers. Allegedly the BBC person asked for me as I had done the interview at the pr...

The window seat man should have a MAGA hat.
If you look closely at his headgear, that's probably what he's wearing except you can't read the lettering.

If those who wished to leave repressive dictatorships to live in freedom elsewhere were able to do so, it would be interesting how the dictators handled having no one to whom they could dictate.

Anything that improves the odds is welcome. Figures suggest that for the unvaccinated in the US, it's a 1 in 55 chance of death if you catch it. For vaccinated people it's vastly less likely, although if the "wrong" variant comes along then those protections could vanish.

Re: Rant of the Day v2.

The assumption behind the similar number thing goes back to when your neighbours all had such numbers because you were all on the same exchange. They think you're more likely to assume it's a neighbour and answer it, whereas I work on the principle that I don't know anyone with a number similar to m...
