Space Oddities...

Nothing is certain in life but death, taxes, and paperwork. Even when you’re an astronaut. Buzz Aldrin, the NASA astronaut who was the second man to walk on the moon, has revealed the US Customs form he had to sign after making his way back to Earth. Instead of declaring his baggage or duty-free ch...

Personally, one has always found the Karl Lagerfeld places rather more about fashion than proper BDSM. A bit like that 50 Shades of Vanilla.book.

I don't have to twirk to make an arse of myself in a helicopter, believe me... =)) But Vaseline helps, in a navy kinda way. It's that one-per-rev wot does it, y'know. Any navy man will admit it. Privately. What those nautical coves get up to is best left at sea methinks! ;))) I am pretty much a str...

Two people were killed doing the work, but not on my watch thank goodness! Sleep is such a blessed thing. Which Chinese reef or islet should the Blaircrarft carrier challenge first? Should it be the biggest one? Or the smallest one? Should it be the most British one? Or the least Brtitish one and w...

Re: The really boring and totally pointless snippets thread IV

Shirley you have worked out how to lock the collective and clamp your knees around the cyclic? Then you can use your hands to work the whiz wheel, all the time shiftily looking outside and inputting small cyclic corrections with your knees. Nowadays it's called twirking. Not becoming of old-fashion...

"Holistic"! More like a whole lot management psychobabble. Right up there with "come and scuba in my think tank" in its cringe worthiness! I hired a Scottish ex nuclear submarine officer and worked with him on a large IT/infrastructure management project for Railtrack back in the day. Calum was very...

And the epitaph will be spoken in plummy English tones. It won't sound like some Cantonese kitchen porter in a chinky restaurant who's whacked his thumb with a chopper when dismantling a duck carcass. Charles Gray did have a very plummy accent indeed. Very theatrical, and probably adopted purposely...

For well over a dozen Dynasties, spread over a couple of thousand years, the Chinese ness of the Chinese islands went undisputed in China 's South Sea. What was the deal with RAF East Fortune with 3 concrete runways, two of which could still be resurrected? It is, as you know, the home to the Scottish National Museum of Flight, but the only flights possible from there are from an ultralight club that still uses part of an old taxiway, I think. Whe...

Re: The really boring and totally pointless snippets thread IV

How am I meant to work out wind velocity and direction in flight, based upon observed drift in a helicopter, using a CRP 5 analogue computer (whizz wheel) in an R44 which requires hands on cyclic and collective 99.999% of the time, for me anyway, given my modest talent... :-? Keep an eye out for err...
