Re: Millions of us might be **** if we ignore the Russian-Ukraine war
We don't hear too much about ground battles at the moment - it all seems to be drones and aerial attacks, which is no bad thing of course. Do we think that both sides maybe a bit short of conventional field ammo?

Re: Don't Get Any Ideas Woody
Some very sloppy handling there. I've had dealings with gold and other precious metals as cargo in the past, and also currency. You certainly wouldn't have been able to take delivery of it with a dodgy airwaybill. What's the consignee doing with an airwaybill before the cargo's been unloaded anyway?...

Re: Millions of us might be **** if we ignore the Russian-Ukraine war
We have the problem that accurate BDA is probably available to the Ukrainians via their partisans, but they probably then can't confirm it to us because of OpSec. It may be possible to get some civilian satellite photos tomorrow, available to us Friday, but the Russians are in the habit of shifting...

Re: Millions of us might be **** if we ignore the Russian-Ukraine war
I would consider GDC to be a good source, even though they spell defence wrong :) I don't know where in Moscow this plant is. It used to build large lorries (the sort that carry ICBMS, seen in Red Square on May Day), and I'm not sure whether it still does, or whether it's been turned over to missile...

I was watching FR 24 for a few minutes earlier, and the holding pattern off the coast looked totally chaotic. Not a bit like Bovingdon and Ockham

Re: Millions of us might be **** if we ignore the Russian-Ukraine war
I gather that there was unusually heavy snowfall over the Urals during the winter, and this of course is now melting, and it has to go somewhere. Much of rural Russia still operates on the old planning system, so if it wasn't in the plan then there is no provision for it, with either money or resour...

I love a mug of Oxo, especially with a bacon sandwich, (sorry G-C) but the Oxo has to be the low-salt one.

Re: Millions of us might be **** if we ignore the Russian-Ukraine war
Tomsk is a major oil-producing region and also the site of a large nuclear power plant. in my days of visiting the Soviet Union, we were not allowed to go to Tomsk (amongst other places), because it was a 'closed city.' If the flooding has reached the city, there will be a lot of problems. It would ...

Re: Millions of us might be **** if we ignore the Russian-Ukraine war
I would agree 100% with Prof. Feng's observations. I chat to Ukrainians almost daily by keyboard, and despite the deprivations, they are determined not to let Putin win. One lady I know has parents living in Donetsk. The only way she can contact them is by encrypted text messages. She cannot talk to...

Ooh err, missus! From 'The Times' "Britain has entered talks to replicate the Rwanda migrant deportation scheme with Armenia, Ivory Coast, Costa Rica and Botswana , according to leaked documents that reveal the government’s extensive search for another third-country deal " There is said to be quite...

+1 on the UNSC meeting. Personally, I think the UN has had its day, and a re-think is in order, but that will never happen. The likes of Putin and Netanyahu (and I suspect many others), just see it as a talking shop, which sadly, seems to be the case.

Re: Millions of us might be **** if we ignore the Russian-Ukraine war
Ich habe immer gesagt, dass Russland diesen Krieg nicht gewinnen darf. Und schnell war klar, dass dies kein kurzer Krieg werden würde. Wir werden noch lange Waffen und Munition an die Ukraine liefern müssen. Translated by me: I have always said that Russia can not be allowed to win this war. And it...

Morning folks. Clear sky cool wind. The Daily Snail thinks that Gibraltar is an island. Wasn't when I was last there. I suppose it was for a while when the Generalissimo closed the gates for a few years. I was reading some stuff on a septic website a few days ago about Gib and it too thought that G...

Re: It has been a wet April!
Where I live in the East of England we generally have much drier weather than other parts, but there have been few days this year so far when we haven't had any rainfall. The floodplain areas around the River Nene look like lakes, and other streams and rivers are swollen to an extent I haven't seen ...

That is some serious flooding. There must be a lot of very unhappy people in the Orenburg region at the moment.

Re: Millions of us might be **** if we ignore the Russian-Ukraine war
Tolyatti is the home of the LADA factory, which apart from the ubiquitous (though not in the UK) models, also produces military vehicles. And of course, it's not just the cars, but the components as well. The Russians tend not to produce parts 1000 miles away and ship them to the assembly plant. Mos...

There is a big Ilyushin production factory at Voronezh. I wonder if part of that was hit? It also does MRO for other aircraft.

Re: BA009 revisited
It was exemplary CRM. I remember studying it during various ATPL courses (CASA and JAA). During a time when it was common to criticise poor CRM, this crew stood out as exemplars in how to do it right. One ATPL instructor (CASA) was a former Qantas pilot. He visited that B747 after landing. He said ...
