Re: The really boring and totally pointless snippets thread V

1.5m3 I think. Bloody heavy pushing the trailer in to its parking spot. Some decades ago a family friend bought a trailer. He is a decent driver with a variety of experience. However when he had to back up the trailer into a spot he failed miserably despite knowing that the steering wheel needs to ...

Re: 11 foot 8 inches (plus 8)

Malvernian, buses may take a wrong route or a driver unfamiliar with the proper route. Trucks may have the wrong Satnav or out of date. Grantham, Harlaxton Road is in the top 10 for strikes. It's not helped by the main east west A52 threading its way through the town centre. When the Western part o...

Re: 11 foot 8 inches (plus 8)

Once had a very sweaty palms moment in our campervan, 2.58m high, in Le Mans. Got forced into wrong lane by French truck, and was committed to go under 2.75m bridge. Very gingerly crept forward, and looking up through the roof lights at the rivets of the bridge. Much horn blaring by the following Fr...

Re: The really boring and totally pointless snippets thread V

Just got back from Cotswolds after visiting No1 daughter and SiL, to welcome arrival of new grandson Javier, (SiL is Spanish). Mesahib is staying there for a few more days, I'd forgotten how noisy 3day old babies are, even their dog looked at me imploringly as I got into the car.

Re: Engrossing read

I had a very high security clearance for a sideline I was involved in. No one ever checked up on me when retired. Can you be sure that they’re not watching you now B-) I was seconded to what was then, a Government Agency, (now private) from my employer for a period of time, and had to sign my life ...

Re: Engrossing read

Another good selection of books in a similar vein, i.e MI5 and MI6, is the Liz Liz Carlyle series by Stella Rimmington (Ex DG of MI5). Often wonder how near the plots are from her own experience, during her time in MI5. We have listened to them on Audible during recent long holiday journeys in our c...

Re: The really boring and totally pointless snippets thread V

Went for my covid booster this morning, following an text invite from the surgery couple of weeks ago to make an appointment for the jab. Went in and saw the new, and very attractive doc. She checked me on her computer, and said, your too early, 180 days haven't passed since the 2nd jab, I said that...

Re: The really boring and totally pointless snippets thread V

Had a very good evening on Friday. It was the September 1967 intake of Railway S&T apprentices get together as we do every few years. Sadly, through various reasons the numbers are diminishing. Always surprising how much older, fatter and greyer everyone is. Also interesting the various routes away ...

Re: The really boring and totally pointless snippets thread V

Had a very pleasant day on Tuesday, the Memsahib bought me, for a quite significant birthday, a days hire of a Morgan +4 sports car. We drove on a tour of Herefordshire, had a very good lunch at a typical Herefordshire black and white pub. Whilst driving the Morgan is a very exhilarating experience,...

Today will be spent celebrating Sproglette Senior's 16th birthday. She has, so it seems, grown so quickly and is becoming a fine young lady. I am very proud of her?
You'll now have start to be on your guard for any unsuitable oiks she will start to bring home

We now have a Harvard T6 in the circuit as well.
What an odd day.
We had a Typhoon circling earlier, about 9:30 at the south end of the Malverns, noisy buggah, he then went on to Brize

I started to loose hair at about 22-23 YO. Parents wedding photo's show father was quite bald at 22, so thought there was no hope for me. GF on mothers side had very full head of hair. GF on fathers side had thinning hair.

Re: Rant of the Day v2.

I had occasion to venture out quite early this morning, well for me it's early at 07:45. Out of my village on to the main road. On the main road hit a long line of traffic, hmm, wonder what's the problem, after 15 mins of queueing it turns out the highways dept or whoever, have decided to white line...
