Re: Windows to Apple ?
In short: - Yes you can, but it may take a bit of fiddling to get everything in the right place. Consider putting Chrome on your MacBook. I'm sure there is a way to transfer your 'profile' from one Chrome browser to another (other browsers offer this trick as well) but you will have to look up the d...

They reached the £60k goal and are currently at £62k and the amount is still going up. Looks like the big move is on!

Re: Baltimore bridge collapse
Well.... there are so-called dolphins, which are structures placed in line with the pylons and designed to absorb an impact thereby safeguarding the pylon: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dolphin_(structure) The problem is that a 95T vessel with some speed on it is not something a bit of concrete will...

Re: Baltimore bridge collapse
The topic of redundancy is not really relevant to bridges such as these. If you take out one of the two pylons, of course it is going to collapse. This is a similar truss bridge: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hart_Bridge and it too will not survive having one of its pylons removed. This Wiki article...

Re: Duxford.
Looks pretty serious. The media is not (yet) stating that the pilot has passed away, but he/she can't be in very good shape after that. It was indeed the CAPS parachute going up, I wonder if that has a G-switch in its system somewhere. Having checked this PDF: https://flyasg.co.uk/wp-content/uploads...

Re: Baltimore bridge collapse
An overhead view of the ship's track does not show it veering as much as between the north and south support. The power outage no doubt will have influenced the outcome.

Could well have been tiles. The SS tumbled as it re-entered the atmosphere and the resulting forces on various bits of the craft could have dislodged many things.

Some pretty spectacular footage! Loved the shots from the coasting phase and the initial build-up of plasma during reentry.

Re: Friday Jokes
A woman awakes in the middle of the night to find her husband not in bed. She puts on her robe and goes downstairs to look for him. She finds him sitting at the kitchen table with a cup of hot cocoa in front of him. He appears to be in deep thought, just staring at the wall. She watches as he wipes ...

Re: Beverley moving to Carlisle
This is good news and all power to their collective elbows, but what happens when Carlisle 'Lake District' airport closes? Let's hope we are not faced with another Bruntingthorpe. I don't know who owns Carlisle Airport but the fact that it is an operating airport is a good thing. Bruntingthorpe was...

It is more ironic than funny, that's for sure. Then again, men can also get breast cancer... so I guess this evens things out a bit.

Re: Do film makers have shares in electricity companies?
I see that, but I was recently watching a film where a scene was set in a flashy apartment overlooking the Thames. The south wall of the very large lounge was completely glass. There was surely enough light there for anybody, certainly for my cheapo camcorder, but again all the lights in the place ...

Re: Valiant Air Command Museum - Space Coast of Florida
They are worth a visit. I went to their airshow a long time ago (2002) but didn't get a chance to visit the museum itself unfortunately. Titusville is indeed very close to the Cape Canaveral/KSC complex so you could easily combine the two. Mind you, I needed a full day to enjoy everything the KSC vi...
