Re: Rant of the Day

I've seen a car driving along at 10kph with a dog running alongside (the owner 'walking' the dog) before but this was much worse.Conditioning a kid to drive across across the road for a bag of crap instead of preparing a meal.No wonder there's an obesity epidemic.

Lazy bastards

I was parked up in a small country town today waiting for 1400 to check in to a motel down the road.Nearby was a block of townhouses, and across the road was a Scottish restaurant beginning with 'M'.I spotted a particularly ugly car at the townhouses and pondered why people buy such pieces of crap.Ab...

Returning a library book a day late.Violence just for kicks. I have a special loathing of anyo...

Re: Shaking your teachers hand ?

Shaking a teacher's hand? As a Catholic school alumni, of 12 years, the only use of the teacher's hand was usually to beat the *sh*t* out of us with. Or stick one of the hand's fingers in our faces. rgb you have spoken of your disappointment with your experience of your Catholic education before. Y...

Think you meant 'Manus' as Manaus is in northern Brazil :)

Re: Best Place to Drink Beer!

Finding a place to drink beer in a Muslim country is a always a 'good place'.I was at the Marriott in Islamabad (the one that got blown up by a truck bomb, fortunately a while after I left) and was in the bar downstairs. It was full.At 8pm,they closed the bar and the manager came around with 2 goons d...

"oh there just happened to be a camera crew when the family found the ordinance. bollocks. you were fed a dramatisation"

W8,I was shown the film by the Army.It was a training film depicting a fictional scenario designed to demonstrate the dangers of handling unexploded ordnance.Got it now ?

500N,weren't you told never to touch unexploded ordnance in the Army ? I was only in the cadets and I was made to watch a film about the dangers.Young family go to the woods for a picnic.Little boy finds an unexploded piezo-electric detonated mortar and places it on the car bonnet. It rolls off and b...

Not a candidate, but an honourable mention. This idiot found a couple of hand grenades in a local park.He then picked them up,carried them to his car and drove home.2 weeks later,he took them to the local cop shop.He walked in to reception and put them on the counter.Must be one of the dumbest people ...

Re: Book open on North Korean rocket...?

While we don't know what the real intention of the latest rocket launch was, there's informed opinion that NK have a long way to go towards the development of a true ICBM,one that can re-enter the atmosphere and accurately target a city thousands of miles away. Some interesting assessments in this art...

Re: Book open on North Korean rocket...?

Yes,they were. All I'm saying is that if it weighed 220kg at launch (how do you know that ?),that after subtracting the weight required for the support systems, there isn't a lot left for a payload.No-one, apart from the North Koreans themselves, knows anything for certain about about the specs of KMS-...

Re: Book open on North Korean rocket...?

Not really John.Once you take into account the fuel load, bus structure and solar panels, there's not much left. Most telecommunications satellites are in the order of 4-5,000 kgs.The recently launched Sky Muster internet satellite for Australia weighed 6,440 kgs at launch. Even if the NK satellite di...
