Re: Favourite Airports

did they specify the bribe and threat? 5,000 Rupees or they'd arrest me and take me away. Said while tapping his stick against his hand. I was supernumary crew as "Flying Spanner" and listed on the Gen Dec, but that made no difference. My presence at the departure gate in uniform with com...

Re: No. 10 Squadron

Never on 10 Squadron, I worked on LSS for three and a bit happy years '71 to '74. I loved the VC10, a true Techies machine it was.

I thought it was to stop people nicking your bike.

A bit like Mr. Bean taking the steering wheel off his mini. ;)

Re: Controversial, moi?! And not the big bad wolf...

I was never banned on the other place, I left voluntarily because it was no longer a serious aviation site. Any attempt at discussion on an aviation topic was sooner or later shouted down by amateurs. I gradually faded into JB and mostly TRABB and when I suggested that it may be better for TRABBies ...

Re: Cyclists & Cycling AKA: Lycra Loonies

There is a difference between cyclists and Lycra Looneys or MAMILS.

Cyclists are using pedal powered vehicles to go somewhere for a purpose.

The Lycra clad types are simply on a mission.

All the Boeing technical documents refer to airplanes, much to my annoyance. They're a type of aircraft properly called aeroplanes. .

I do hope my isp has been blocked. I wasn't sure that I'd signed out of the other place completely.

Re: The really boring and totally pointless snippets thread 1

The airship caught fire after being attacked and crashed at Cuffley in Hertfordshire. There's a small piece of the offending Schütte-Lanz SL11 airship (i.e. NOT a Zeppelin) in the de Havilland Aircraft Museum. It's in the First World War exhibition and earns its place in the museum at Salisbury Hal...

My favourite is Brunei International. Least favourite was New Delhi, where I was made to pay a bribe under threat of violence before I was allowed airside to prepare our aircraft for departure.

I got the Singapore Grip, but cured it by moving to Brunei where I acquired a terminal case of the Borneo Grip. I love everything about Borneo. If only the kids and Gradchildren weren't established in UK I'd still be "Out East" today...

Re: Licensed Aircraft Maintenance Engineers

The reason for the licence bragging lies in the header for the topic - but as it goes on to say, if you don't have one, a driving licence will do.

I did find it ironic that the topic mentions AME licences with reference to the Good old Form 700.

Re: The really boring and totally pointless snippets thread 1

A grey miserable looking day out there this morning. I shall lie abed for a bit longer, then walk the dogs. They like grey and miserable: it seems to make the scent trails stronger and hound kind live in a scented world.
