Very interesting. Never knew John Timmins.
Never thought much about Melissa before. That tune was first released in 93. She has done some fine-tuning and taken a bit of sandpaper to an ok song and produced a belter.

Re: Aircraft carriers and other white elephants...
Kind of a big conundrum isn't it. You usually have to have air power in theatre to have a chance of success. Often the only way to have that asset is by putting the biggest bloody target on the wide open seas, reasonably close to the enemy target and protected by escorts - sort of. One Exocet or sim...

Re: My new motorbike.
It's her first bike (she's a pilot) and for me a single 500 choice was a bit strange until I realized the choice was mainly for cosmetic reasons (colour matches her car exactly). However I was left with concerns over build quality and subsequent reliability.(broken down on a lonely road is never fun...

Re: My new motorbike.
Oks,
I see a Royal Enfield 500 EFi (electronic fuel injection)
I don't see a Royal Enfield EFIS (the only one I know of is "electronic flight instrument system")
Was looking into this bike as friend in Oz had just bought a RE 500 something as a first bike and got me wondering about things.

Trying to think who Junker reminds me of. Has to be someone from comedy. Stan Laurel comes to mind for similar ineptitude but to be fair, Mr. Laurel was only acting and was a much nicer person.

Re: Do missiles violate Japanese airspace?
I think the only important consideration with a launch is the intended target (and perhaps an unintended target). Airspace legalities do not enter into the response calculations.

And what do the Networks do in these situations? Round up all the reporters with naughty points and throw in everyone with an English or Ozzie accent and say - Right - you lot are for Florida. Do lots of wind stuff with wonky mikes.

Re: The really boring and totally pointless snippets thread II
Lived on a houseboat for a couple of years. Built a bed out of 2x4s for the frame and a couple of sheets of plywood as a base. Added a mattress and slung the four corners from the roof. Very pleasant it was.
