Re: A cool morning in Ashburton...

This is a gathering of aero club members from various parts of NZ. They had annual competitions and prize giving etc at this airport and used the museum facilities for their evening activities etc. The peaks are the foot hills of the Southern Alps and are about 30 miles away, the main range is out ...

Re: The really boring and totally pointless snippets thread V

Morning folks. Sun, hot. Had sulfation around a battery terminal on the big motor. Followed destructions from Google. It is always a disaster when I go under the bonnet. Lost a terminal into the bowels of the compartment. Shoved two bare wires under the retaining nut and it seems to work. For the ti...

Re: A big undertaking

It seems that there is no governing body! What has happened here is that the funeral directors have been cremating one body and splitting the ashes between two urns. They stockpile the second body and save on one cremation whilst getting paid for two. This is why there were 35 bodies at the establis...

The reported loss of all instrument panel data/electrics remains unexplained and if true is crucial.

Re: The really boring and totally pointless snippets thread V

Flying ATH-DBX-JNB we used to get little boxes of Belgium Chockies. Telling them about our non existent orphanage on Amorgos we used to leave with carrier bags of the things to give to all my girlfriends there. I must add, some considerably older than I. Yes, the now, not so new ATH is a considerabl...

That bitch has done it again. Launches a new brand (American Riviera Orchard) the day that HRH PoW is addressing the 25th anniversary of the Diana Legacy Awards at the science museum. Hope the stupid brand is a flop. Any one for a pot of jam no doubt with her Royal crest on it? This is exactly the s...

Re: LATAM flight LA800 accident

Doesn't really add much except 'Juan exposure' to this incident. The reported loss of all instrument panel data/electrics remains unexplained and if true is crucial. I can't see the connection if it was a seat activation problem. Coincidence? He made a very good point I hadn't thought about. It is ...

Morning folks. Broken Cu 34C. Just had an e-mail from a friend on her way here from Amorgos. She had got as far as Zurich with Swiss Air. This is a route we have booked twice and had to cancel twice so never done it. It was Capetonian's recommendation for ATH-JNB. Awaiting feedback. She is 1st class...

It is the World Water Park in Edmonton Mall. I have done every one of those slides. :YMPARTY: That is a lot of steps to climb. It is the world's largest wave pool.

10/10 Ex-Ascot - Socotra off the Gulf of Aden. Had a quick look there en route to the Far East in 1974 - very barren - and Russians lurking around.

You have control.
Thank you FD2. An easy one if you have been there. Great fun.

Dragon blood tree, Island of Socotra, off the coast of Yemen. Getting to the arid island of Socotra off the coast of Yemen is a bit of a schlep, but if you’re a tree aficionado it’ll be worth the effort. Socotra is home to the eerie, prehistoric-looking dragon blood trees, sometimes simply named 'So...
