Re: Friday Jokes
My next one, after writing off a Mk 2 Sprite was a sensible Morris 1000 Traveller as well. The brakes never worked very well, which led to scrape with a Mk 10 Jag which took up most of the road - well he knew the Chief Constable etc as his wife told me - so it was me who got the warning from the cop...

Re: Friday Jokes
A recent survey suggests that the first car you owned is as memorable as your first kiss. Mine was a mucky old escort that had to be hand cranked. I can’t remember what make the car was. Mine was an old Standard 10 with a rough body, that almost got me to where I wanted to go, sometimes. I learned ...

Re: Chaos in Scotland.
A small hope will ignite in the hearts of the folk, mainly in the Western Isles, that they will get a decent ferry service again sometime. I don't think I'm being unduly cynical in doubting that this ship will be in service by September 2025, after the mess and huge waste of money and hopeless sched...

FOD Plod Needed at Denver
Engine Cowling Mostly Left on the Runway Passengers unusually quiet...apparently 'the pilot had to be told that the cowling had fallen off' - because he hasn't got eyes in the back of his head I guess. https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-13281581/boeing-engine-cowling-wing-takeoff-southwest-je...

Re: The Capetonian WOE Thread
Obviously I thought they were saltire flags and in the shadows they could well be blue. OK with you? St Andrew isn't just the patron saint of Scotland.

Re: The Capetonian WOE Thread
It's been viewed 81 times and no responses. It's Banks' Peninsula just south of Christchurch, New Zealand. The inlet top left is Lyttelton Harbour and the port which serves Christchurch. The other one at the bottom is Akaroa Harbour where Shackleton's captain Frank Worsley was brought up. https://en...

Re: New Zealand
I remember reading about the problems in damp or wet operations. Hopefully they used the best stuff in the rebuild!

Re: New Zealand
Warbirds Over Wanaka is back after a break of several years. Sadly the Mosquito has been sold to someone in the States - after a very lengthy rebuild here - so it won't be seen here again. Wanaka is a town in the South Island near Queenstown. The F-16s are based at Christchurch - where there is a US...
