Dubai was great in the late 90s and even the early noughties, that was it for me.
Far preferred Dubai when I knew it (1965). This where you caught a ferry across the creek.

The story goes that when Capt James Cook returned to England after finding and claiming Australia, he told George III (I think) that he could have it as long as the royal family retained it as a crown property. If Australia chooses to become a republic then it reverts back to the Cook Family, in it'...

Flew into Templehof at the sharp end with Pan Am multiple occasions. You would be hard pressed to find a nicer bunch of people.

For those unfamiliar with the "Camino de Santiago de Compostela", I would recommend "The Way", a film/DVD starring Martin Sheen. First saw it on free-to air TV a while back, and bought the DVD. Have watched it a few times since. It's very good.

BM, 'twas I as Admin1 back then. Does give me an opening to address thoughts on the most recent "mass shooting". I had a lot in common with the perpetrator, being both trans and diagnosed with High Functioning Autism. HFA used to be known as Asperger's Syndrome. By all accounts those investigating t...

Both of us still looking. Could be problems though, both looking for different varieties. I would prefer a bigger dog, my friend a smaller one.

Re: Rant of the Day v2.

Absolutely unreal. TV program here (Oz) last night called Border Security, which shows quarantine incoming at Sydney airport. Asian couple state nothing to declare on card, yet have two large suitcases full of food. Including bag of raw pork (Swine flu) and raw chicken pieces (Avian flu). Both of wh...

Thoughts on sharing a dog.

Got a neighbour of similar age to myself - eighty-ish, who like me would like to get a dog, She is not an immediate neighbour, but same complex. Looking at a medium sized dog, collie perhaps or beagle. Talking earlier today suggestion was raised why not share one. Both of us are of an age that hospi...

I still have a wide carriage OKI dot matrix printer somewhere. Not sure I've got a parallel port on the computer to drive it though. Your Calcomp plotter parallel port followed on from RS232 driven printers which followed on from 20ma current loop devices. Still got a 20ma current loop cable in a b...

First flight - a Chippie, and not the ones that come with fish. 1957 at RAF Chivenor. Magic it was, pure magic. Equally enjoyable was flight was from Gatwick to Bahrain in 1965. Yes a magic Ten, of the VC variety. A troopship, the jockey pulled back hard on the stick, and gave it stick, and we all c...
