Never had to do it, but apparently a faux part of the Ford's door handle prises off and underneath there is a Real Key Hole.
The Ford Focus, circa 2004, had a key locked bonnet. The key hole was behind the Ford badge at the front. Probably an excellent idea until word got out.

FYI, Abe are selling a copy at £30. The 1919 edition is less expensive.

Re: Rant of the Day v2.

I needed a tetanus jab. I rang the surgery to request a jab. I was told a triage person would contact me. A Doris duly rang back and agreed I would need to be referred to a nurse. The nurse said get here PDQ. By the time I arrived she had my notes and found I had never completed my course of jabs in...

He's referring to your post here..... https://ops-normal.org/viewtopic.php?p=373721#p373721 about relocating the Sick Joke thread to the Members only' section, 'General members only stuff' but it's not there in "Visible To Members' Only" unless my old eyes are deceiving me....... General Members Only Stuff

This now resides in the 'Members only' section, 'General members only stuff Is there a General members only stuff?

There is a Visible to Members Only section but there does not appear to be a joke thread there.

Once I had a particular correspondent whose style was both verbose and obscure. I responded in the same style and deliberately missed the point. I knew he was on leave and duly despatched the file into the system safe in the knowledge that I would be on leave and posted before he returned. Sadly his...

Re: Wot Would You Do, Captain?

We had a brakeman misshap on the Shackleton. Being a tail dragger the tug is at the back and the brakeman at the front. I think communication was by cleft stick and runner. Somewhere in the process the brakeman broke and the tug man tugged with predictable consequences. Fortunately, or unfortunately...

Went down to empty washing machine of black wash put in at 1am. Opened door, lower bathroom instantly became swimming pool. Pump had stopped because filter blocked. Filter blocked because Someone never empties pockets of paper hankies when putting washing in. Naturally flooding somehow became My Fa...

Re: Solar panels

Our solar panels paid back after 4.5 years the batteries will take about 6 so three years to go. We live alongside a dusty lane and the panels are hosed as required, twice a week in the worst case. Good to hear. I have factored my prices assuming a 5% pa electricity increase and it more or less mat...

Re: Solar panels

We just had panels fitted. First time the economics stacked up and at 10 years will probably see us out. More important than panels is the battery. Panels are fine for cooking and machines during the day but once the sun is over the yard arm the battery does the heavy lifting and generally sees us t...

C16, used the same broker 2 years on the go. Reinsured with L&G again but the broker about half the L&G price. I have had Sainsbury home insurance for a good number of years now. Each year they advise I might get a cheaper deal elsewhere. I might save a few coppers but in this case not worth the bot...

Some more 'news' of the event. https://www.mirror.co.uk/news/world-news/russian-warship-sinking-key-naval-30626226 I love it. The Mirror says: The Suvorovets anti-sabotage boat, when it is actually a Sverdlovsk class cruiser. Mikhail Kutuzov Михаил Кутузов Nikolayev 23 February 1951 29 November 195...

Re: Millions of us might be **** if we ignore the Russian-Ukraine war

IIondel, true, but you would need a full range analyser and probably a team of EW rates. Remember though, this is not an operational warship but an armed LST equipped to add gunfire support in a beach assault. If it has any EW gear it would probably be limited to threat detection at I, J or Ku bands...

Re: Payment for seats and baggage

Only I fear for flights originating from Spain or when Spain was the country of purchase. BA are very tolerant of "hand baggage only" passengers turning up to board with cases. Put in the hold at no charge. I will not pay for special seat locations. So far we've always had row 20 or 22, which does ...

Re: Millions of us might be **** if we ignore the Russian-Ukraine war

During one period of my university course I could appreciate why Communist Russia could see it was the victim. The Allies did their best to suppress the revolution which was perceived as an existential threat to the old European monarchial order. The Germans, despite disposing on the Kaiser tried ag...

Re: Rant of the Day v2.

One day I had to double back a few miles as a tree had blocked the road.
I tried to signal to a driver approaching and waved and flashed my lights. In return I got headlights on, an increase in speed, and a finger.
I hope he was still looking in his rear view mirror as he rounded the bed
