Cabbages

Morning folks. Got a bit fooled by the bright moon at 04.45 thought it was dawn and got up. Now on second cup of tea by the pool and the 'real' sun is rising. Put some cabbage seeds in a week ago and they are already making an appearance. I put two in each hole in the tray and they all seem to be ta...

Donkeys

If you want a donkey ride come here to Botswana. There are millions of the b@stards all over the place including all over the road in town. Don't know a single person who hasn't had a car accident involving a donkey. The goats, cattle and horses move out of your way when you blast your horn. The stu...

Re: Cursive writing

Only having electricity for a few hours a day I often use pen and paper to type up later. Can't read it though. Have to ask the boss what I have written, she is used to doctor's writing.

Surely kids have to write for exams?

Maun

Sorry I forgot MUB. You can check in then go across the road to a town pub until 15 mins before departure. Wander back to the terminal, security, immigration, then stroll across the apron just in time for the doors to close. Mind you if everyone did this it wouldn't work. MUB has a runway that will ...

Re: Wot's for Tea, Ma?

LG no. Only things I have seen eating hippo are lions and crocs. Interesting actually the crocs back off when the lions appear.

Tuna pasta for lunch, with a glass of red, of course.

Re: Favourite Airports

om15 you would probably have got a ban for that on t'other site. Exec lounge facing East Angels, Kai Tak, Rwy 13 enormous fun. I always thought that the right wing tip would take the laundry drying on the approach lights on the roofs off. Wonder how many aircraft landed with a pair of knickers or a ...

Fishermen

Alison, that is quite a zoo of 'smiles' don't know where to start. BF & HF hopefully the razor blades will not be required. Got my resident special constable to speak to the fishermen this morning. Not quite sure what this one means. Is it rude? Sorry, edited to add I understand now. Not appropr...

Re: The really boring and totally pointless snippets thread 1

Morning folks. Pre-dawn tea and scotch by the pool. Staff should have started their one hour walk to work. It gets them warmed up. Head gardener in for a bit of a talking to this morning about supervison. Wodders I could run faster than AG. When the girlies arrived I was even faster. SLF, unfortunat...

Ha ha, non-reflectives of course Wodders. Just turned off the generator. All very peaceful. A little post din dins wine and then bed. The bats are now coming out on their night patrol and the frogs are starting their evening chorus. All is very calm. Just like the cloisters at Chets apart from no ma...

Re: Weird and weirder

Back in the UK we used to have a wildlife area in our garden where we put old logs and hay down to encourage the hedgehogs. It was a very successful programme. Our late dog was crazy about them. Used to run in circles around them in the middle of the lawn.

Spot of trouble here

Had fishermen putting a net across the lagoon in front of our estate at sunset. Totally illegal. Told them to remove it. They refused. Called me 'my friend'! Excuse me, we have never even been introduced. I have now cut the rope attached to the shore twice. At dawn I am going to tow it down river to...

Octopussy, you say 29° outside - please don't tell me you have a/c inside?! Same temp here at the moment but probably slightly cooler inside due to the thatch.

Spag veggie for din dins. Rarely eat meat at home.

Re: Driving across the Kalahari - not aviation but fun

Lechwe absolutely correct. Amazing to watch a herd (?) galloping through the wet lands kicking up huge sprays of water. Yes Alison, we occasionally have flamingos on our lagoon here which is the largest area of water on the Boteti river. Of the large birds more often pelicans though. Only seen one t...

Re: 45 new Peers?

Absolutely ridiculous. I only see two who deserve it. One ex-PM (briefly) and the guide dog and his man.

Yet again my fiver to the Tory party a year has failed to gain me a seat. How many fivers do they want?

As a pax DXB. Amazing, user friendly and very comfortable exec lounges. The EK 1st class lounge is just incredible.

As a driver Cairo was the worst. I will probably be out voted on this.
