As a remote afficionado of the Jetbanger's spawn, never having flown the newfangled 505 thingy; and as a Noggie-sprawk speaker of the language that the Rogalander folk speak in their own accent which is only slightly different from my own, I loved this one: PS irrelevantly: Hearing Clearwater Reviva...

Re: Millions of us might be **** if we ignore the Russian-Ukraine war

I remember that Craig Murray, former Ambassador to Uzbekistan, told me that Islam Karimov, the then President, had two of his opponents boiled in oil and reiterated the claim in his book. Lest anyone should imagine that this heinous act took place in the Middle Ages, Karimov was President between M...

Re: WTF is happening in the UK?

Am I the only one to notice the imagery and iconic significance of those autumn leaves on the doorstep(s) of Downing Street?

Will the broom of a new punkah wallah sweep clean?

Full minimum wage, of course. To be taxed on a non-non-dom status basis, unless politically expedient.

Mind you it will take some clearing up after our Liz has finished partying there.
I believe there was quite some partying at the back end of April 1945 in the bunker behind the Chancellery.

They think it's all over

Well it is now, apparently.

The Torygraph has calculated that Sunak needs 179.
Guido Fawkes reckons he's got 183 and Mordaunt only 31.

Re: WTF is happening in the UK?

True.

The blue rinse set don't like Indians and other immigrants, but Mordant will have to do some hillclimbing to up her game by 14:00 this afternoon.

Sunak 146
Mordaunt 26
Johnson Out for 61

Somebody here predicted that the millionaire guy would win. It is the Tory Party, after all.

Re: Electric Cars II - Not Silly!

I can keep a supply in cans in the garage for instant filling if necessary, can I do that with electricity that I might need in a hurry ? Yes. It's all a matter of very simple planning. Charge the car's battery overnight. Have plenty of range in the morning. If it ain't broke, don't fix it. The sys...

Re: Electric Cars II - Not Silly!

However, you fail to explain who will pay for the inverter kit, where it will be located and will that be added expense to ALL owners of EVs in the UK in order to 'top up' the grid from car batteries? The cost/benefit will go to the owners of the kit, just as happens now already with privately owne...

Re: WTF is happening in the UK?

Boris: Though I have reached out to both Rishi and Penny - because I hoped that we could come together in the national interest - we have sadly not been able to work out a way of doing this Did he demand that they back him as Prime Minister? Did he really think that either of them would have agreed ...

Re: Electric Cars II - Not Silly!

The disadvantage I can see with #407 is that in many urban streets you can't be sure to have an empty parking space immediately outside a particular terraced house.

Re: WTF is happening in the UK?

In the spirit of currently fashionable U-turns, Boris has chickened out.

That leaves Sunak and Mordor, but only if Mordor can find 100 proposers.

Re: Electric Cars II - Not Silly!

#402 Ever taken up roadside paving stones in London? A mass of undocumented gas and water pipes, old sewage, electricity, communications and abandoned cable TV. Note that word "undocumented". As an apprentice we got a call out to a failure of a 600 pair lead (in those days) cable. Found a plug scre...

Re: Electric Cars II - Not Silly!

Re: WTF is happening in the UK?

Let's remind ourselves why Boris was sacked. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-e3on3enEck Any notion that the leopard has changed its spots in a six week holiday is absurd. If the blue rinse mob in the shires choose him, they will obliterate their Conservative Party within two years. Probably a lot l...
