Ian, how yester year. Two years ago our bank would send out new devices rather than have us do a battery change. Now they offer a recycling service as the devices have been obsolete for a couple of years. You are in the UK! Getting a new device to me is a DHL transaction, and takes a couple of week...

If there was any sort of accurate radalt during WWII, it was very very secret.
The 1st remotely avcurate one I saw was Radalt V as fitted to the V- Bombers.
I did a course on it mid 1957. It didn't impress me as a product.
