Re: Rant of the Day v2.
PHX . Interesting comments about your flip flops. F.F''s aren't for me, but some years ago I came across a line of Crocs that look like proper shoes, albeit rubber and “holy”. Full back heel and ankle cover, no laces of course, just pull on and the elasticity of the rubber does the rest. They are th...

Re: Rant of the Day v2.
I am in severe danger of being confused here, So am I ! No, I am not charged for transfers for transfers between my accounts in the same currency, I think my comment was some confusion regarding a note about currency exchange that had been made by someone else, which do of course invoke extra fees....

Re: Rant of the Day v2.
Quote .. Does "Yeah ! Right !" mean you had a charge for the subs transfer? If I really had been overdrawn then, yes, I would have had to pay something I guess, tho' presumably not the regular "fee" . In the end it didn't happen. Don't you just love banks ? About to make the first trip back to Singa...

Re: Rant of the Day v2.
An end comment from Site Funding... by bank transfer, as I believe all major UK banks do this free. Yeah ! Right ! For a million years or more, it seems, actually about 60, NatWest have, at their suggestion, maintained my very first original account, i.e not interest bearing, at a daily balance of £...

Re: The really boring and totally pointless snippets thread V
Don't care for the new style. It Wasn't Broke, So Why Fix It ? 11/15 this morning. Rare result ! Gloves ? I recall being issued with gloves by the RCAF whilst undergoing UK National Service pilot training, thin silk like linings and heavier "outers", also the nicest "flying" sunglasses, Bausch and ...

Re: The really boring and totally pointless snippets thread V
I have an 8 day long case clock which must be about 100 years old. I have no idea where my grandfather got it from, there are no makers marks on it and the general opinion is that it was made possibly as an apprentice piece with the case acquired separately. It has confused several repairers; one c...

Re: The really boring and totally pointless snippets thread V
Thanks for reminding me about the car clock ! if I can find the Manual, controls not naturally instinctive, unlike the 200 yr. old Grandfather clock, on which I just open the front and push the minute hand around one circuit. Easy, unlike all the modern digital disasters. ( Madams 24 hr. digital wri...

Re: New Zealand
Not yet referred to Youth Aid. He doesn't need "Aiding" he needs "Paraiding" before a Judge who locks him away for many years. Bring back the death sentence, an eye for an eye etc. No excuse for hapazardly knifing people at a bus station, I've no interest in the "Troubled childhood" that will doubt...

Re: New Zealand
At least the one who killed his girlfriend was 18, which - I think ? - means that at least he might get a short jail sentence. All the other ones, if caught, will get a talking to and a finger wagged at them in some comedy for a Juvenile Court. NZ Justice system ( Ha Ha ) currently soaking some old ...

Re: How slow can you go? - 20 mile an hour speed limits...
........if you exceeded the speed limit the traffic lights would turn red and stop you. Didn't Slough once experiment with a section of road that had all the intersection traffic lights turn green as you approached providing that you were only driving at the 30 mph limit ? If you went any faster yo...

Re: How slow can you go? - 20 mile an hour speed limits...
Yes, we have a children manned crossing patrol too for the busiest periods at morning and afternoon, but it appears to be supervised by teachers, the children just wave the poles, they don't seem to choose when to stop and re-start the waiting lines of cars. No problem with that at the busy "coming"...

Re: Electric Cars II - Not Silly!
Just read of two women brought to a stop when their hired Tesla EV ran out of charge due to not being given some sort of adapter to use the only re-charging stations that they had been able to find, then they couldn't use the now non-working electric handles for the locked doors, the Hire Co. not ha...

I'm with John, I'm fully vacc'd, even qualified for a local extra one whilst visiting the USA when travel was allowed again, and still wear a mask in Supermarkets and Cinemas, both here and on USA visits, and have been totally free of Covid, for whatever reason, so far and hope to remain so. 2 local...

Re: How slow can you go? - 20 mile an hour speed limits...
One is past a school, so is a deserving candidate for such a slow limit. I live on a school road, and the "posted" limit of 40 kph ( 25 mph ) states ".....when children present" , and most ( except me ) obey this at all times between 0800 and 1530, except during school holiday times. Question .... ...
