Re: Coronabollocks..

I'm interested in the technique of 'foul-hooking' a fish, especially the easy part. I'm not familiar with it. As the walleye fishing season is opening up here in the Michigan Spring, I'm all ears.

Re: Coronabollocks..

That's a different animal, PN. The Lincoln is a comfort ride while the Corona is/was practical, economical basic transportation. It's like choosing between a Porsche 911 and a Mazda Miata. Both do essentially the same job well, but there is a difference.

Re: Chaos in Spain

Also Juan Carlos seemed to be the guiding hand when Spain transitioned to a constitutional monarchy from the quasi-faschist Franco regime that had ruled it for generations. I thought that was handled well with little or no blood shed, and it turned out to be the liberation of the Spanish people. Spa...

Maybe I should have posted that on the China thread. I meant to extol the virtues of good products with quality, reliability and endurance.

Lincoln Town Cars

I observed over a number of years that when the limo arrived to take us pilot crew from the airport to the hotel, about half the time we traveled in the back seat of a Lincoln Town Car if we were in the US. Ford quit making them for a while, why I don't know as to me it seemed they had a lock on the...

Re: Lockup/ lockdown. How to end it?

I'm no expert on the subject, but my guess is that each person wearing a mask, and the work area and all implements and surfaces w sanitized would adequately mitigate the risk of infection. Other precautions, like coughing into our sleeves, not touching our mouth, nose, eye areas, further reduce ris...

Re: Lockup/ lockdown. How to end it?

In the US, Memorial Day, traditionally May 31, but know legislated to be the last Monday in May as a labor holliday, is our kickoff, especially in the more Northern climes, to the summer seasons. That's when we take to our boats, book summer lodgings on the shore, break out the barbecues, and all th...

You know, Undried Plum , if you would stop the insulting 'Murricane' labels, not to mention the 'greedy arseholes and corporate greed' bit, I think you would be able to construct a more cogent presentation of your views. I am quite ready to engage you in a thoughtful discussion/debate, but when I se...

Oil prices marching back up. Is that good.

I've enjoyed the last few months of my fuel purchase costs being cut roughly in half. The truth of it is that as we are restricted on when and where we can go, we are driving about 25% of the miles we were accustomed to. We don't any longer meet with friends for dinner at restaurants; we don't do ca...

Re: Coronabollocks..

I have no inside knowledge of the current reporting of cause of death throughout the US, but I can see how the administrators of medical institutions would quickly figure out that if they can plausibly call it Covid-19 and get more funding, that's what they would do, and encourage the doctors to pla...

Re: Chaos in Spain

the present king is despised by the majority of the population I was unaware of that. The Spanish monarchy isn't covered very well in the States. What is it about Felipe that makes him unpopular? King Juan was highly regarded here in the US. I liked him mostly because he was a qualified F-4 pilot i...

Re: Coronabollocks..

There's some op-ed speculation out in the media that sizable number of the reported long care center deaths are being attributed to Covid-19 when they would really more correctly be attributed to natural causes because more money flows from the government if Covid-19 is labeled as the cause.

Re: The US Hamster Wheel

Thanks, Seenenough . Ben,I hope the flooding has not caused you any problems. A couple of dams breached this week causing some extensive flooding and evacuations in the center of the State. I'm not affected though there is some sporadic flooding not far from me from the Spring thaw and heavy rains. ...

Re: Coronabollocks..

The numbers of deaths are chilling. I think all Americans want to see the decline happening, hopefully as Summer arrives. It pains me when such as you cheer for a higher death toll so as to ridicule President Trump.

Re: Who pays tax, and who is paid from tax?

When will the diminishing number of true taxpayers find themselves unable to fund the masses who work, in one way or another, for the state? That's the key question. The follow on is, "What will people relying on state funds do when and if those funds dry up? My advice is save your money for that r...

Re: Chaos in France

My last meal in France was in 2016 on the occasion of my last Delta trip, DTW-CDG-DTW with a 30 hour layover at DeGaulle. Delta bought my wife a 1st class round trip ticket to accompany me as a send off. It was all spectacular, but the best part was dining at a Michelin 2 star close to our crew hote...

Re: Lockup/ lockdown. How to end it?

A hard lesson to learn, which I did but much later than I should have, is to save, and save when you're young, in some safe investments like bonds and A or better-rated securities, some a bit speculative, some in real estate, some in gold, and thus spread the risk. To do that most of us have to sacr...
