Retrospective on Calibri crash in 2019

Another loss of control crash in low visibility conditions over water. In May 2019, two men took off from Tipton Airport (KFME) in Fort Meade, Maryland, for a pleasure flight. They were in a Guimbal Cabri G2 helicopter, and had hoped to find and photograph a relative of the passenger who was fishin...

Re: The World's on Fire...

Woody & TGG, is this the usual time of year for bush fires in that neck of the woods? It would be unusual, though not unknown, here, but the fire season is starting earlier it seems. Anyway, hope they are sorted quicky and minimum damage, and all are safe. Hydromet, the Cape Peninsular and environs...

Still no sign of our lodger. T has taken up a glass of orange juice. We have to pull her out of this gloom spiral. I can now hear footsteps upstairs.

No matter how lonely those hydrogen atoms may be they will eventually meet up with other hydrogen atoms and they will hang out together and meet up with other groups and eventually there will be such a huge collection of hydrogen atoms which will have such a combined mass this mega-cloud will implo...

Re: Electric Cars II - Not Silly!

Of course our electricity generation capacity, and the grid, here in the UK would be hard pressed to match any large increase in demand, but that is another issue! Not going to be an issue for some time, though, given the massive spare generation and distribution capacity available. For example, th...

wonder about the absence of Stoneboat. The site is worse off for his absence, not least on the quiz front.
During my last with Stoney he said his severe back pain was curtailing his computer time.
Oh, I am so sorry to hear that.

Re: Absurd Insurance Claims

Witnesses? Some years ago I was walking across the disused airfield at Takali in Malta. Taking a short cut through some derelict buildings I saw an old car. As I passed I saw there was one couple in the back and another in the front. There was a curtain between the front and back. It was broad dayl...

I am listening to Canadian band The Tragically Hip and was apt to wonder about the absence of Stoneboat. The site is worse off for his absence, not least on the quiz front.

There is no downwash from the helicopter, we light them using either PSD's, (Plastic Sphere Devices--more to follow), or a helitorch. We are typically burning out thousands of acres at a time, although I have down smaller burns. I watched the videos a couple of times. Amazingly efficient and accura...

Re: The really boring and totally pointless snippets thread V

I really like that painting OFSO... Here I am back from the gym, an increasingly old and knackered man, covered in sweat, but full of hope, unlike our younger house guest who has disappeared in despair to her bed. We will let her be and let time be the healer, poor girl. Weather partly cloudy, cool ...
