When I lived in Somerset we had an underground tank for our sewage. The local farmer would come and pump out the effluent into his tanker and then discharge it onto the land surrounding the nearby reservoir (and fishing lake). After our tank was emptied I was able to enter it via the manhole. Our ta...

My son took an estimated £4000 worth of my camera equipment (including a Rolleiflex and a modern Pentax SLR) to a camera shop and received a derogatory sum.
Further equipment was refused as 'they didn't have room for it'.

I am 'recovering' from several days of upper respiratory distress (sore throat, sneezing, rattling cough) alleviated by proprietary (pharmacy) linctuses (lintusees?). That sounds miserable. You get well soon too, G-CPTN. Thanks - Now back to feeling 'fit and healthy'. Well, almost. What's gone is g...

Malcolm Campbell's Bluebird (along with Campbell's body) was recovered from Coniston Water in 2001 by Bill Smith, an engineer from the North East, who had become fascinated with finding Bluebird and restoring it. Previously Campbell's family (his daughter) seemed to have been content to let him rema...
