Re: Securing ppruned.org's future
Happy to contribute with ugly money. It shouldn't all be on you. - seconded, not only the 25 Squid a year, but domain costs as well as inevitable 'other' costs, looking probably at the £50+ mark depending on the number of domains. Costs will rise as the server will (hopefully!) need upgrading with ...

Re: Shoreham Air Show Plane Crash
Ex-A - I did not read HC's post as in any way a 'pre-judgement', but merely a statement of fact, and, as it happens, my view too. An awful situation. How do you think you would react? I find myself also wondering what the state of mind of the Glasgow bin-lorry driver will be in the future. By the wa...

Re: Windows Security Patches
Sprint - there is nothing wrong with Win 10 in itself, although I do not like the 'Smartphone' type screen. BUT if you didn't select' Custom Install' you should do some interneting and see what your machine is now reporting back to M$. There is dissatisfaction generally also about the way M$ have go...

Re: Shoreham Air Show Plane Crash
A couple of the 'By the grace of God' stories I have heard: An acquaintance of mine was on his way with his son to the show to discuss his outfit's participation in the Sunday show and had just turned off onto the airport access slip road. A somewhat (understandably) distressed lady contacted local ...

Re: Shoreham Air Show Plane Crash
to be alive and have all those deaths of innocent people on his conscience Ex-A - Henry is, unfortunately right. No matter what the cause, it would be 'on his conscience' I can assure you. Some years ago I 'parked' a dead Harrier on a wooded German hillside to avoid built-up areas, but an urgent qu...

Re: Windows Security Patches
Wise move! I've kept away from 8 and I think I'm likely to stay with 7 (in my opinion, the best yet) until end-ex (?2020?) by which time I reckon I'll be needing a new machine anyway. 3 machines now updated (quite some bandwidth!). Waiting now for M$ to decide the 10 update will be 'automatic'. I th...

Re: Windows Security Patches
Finally finished all the patches and given the opportunity to 'decline' the W10 install (guess what.........). Whether I have to go through all that download again or not................. How does it go? "Just because you are paranoid does not mean......." I now have the 'Get Win10' icon b...

Re: Windows Security Patches
In view of all the (justified) fuss about the new 'snooping' powers of Win 10 (if you do not elect for a 'custom' install) I find myself wondering exactly what M$ is putting on my machine! (No, I'm not paranoid about the piccies of sheep on my hard drive). Still apparently 'installing' Win10 after 2...

Re: Windows Security Patches
To add to our joy, M$ are now down 'downloading' W10 to your computer whether you want it or not. U seful if you are on limited disk space or tight on download limits! I gather the 'update' files can be removed using Disk clean-up but right now I cannot get ANY security updates without downloading *...

Re: Shoreham Air Show Plane Crash
Far from 'cognoscenti', Caco, some 60 hours only, and regarding fuel, it is difficult to say - the endurance of the Hunter without drop tank fuel was limited, and it may, of course, have been scheduled for another display after Shoreham. Display pilots would, I'm sure, have factored the fuel load in...

Re: Shoreham Air Show Plane Crash
Just to amplify, Caco, it is normal and almost certainly used on that display, for a setting of '23' degrees of flap to be used all the time for formation and solo aerobatics - there are plenty of pics of looping Hunters showing this and video of Andy's display shows it. 'Elsewhere' someone is rabbi...

Re: Shoreham Air Show Plane Crash
Late Edit: I think that should be 'on-board camera' and not 'radar trace'.

Re: Shoreham Air Show Plane Crash
My Hunter looping experience is all at 'medium level'. The radar trace indicates 100kts at 2600ft. Is that do-able for a pull-through?
