New Zealand must send strong signal to Pacific over China - Defence Minister Peeni Henare

If these countries such as Solomon, Barbados and Jamaica are no longer interested in being a member of the Commonwealth, let them go their own way. No more handouts and no rushing to help them when things go wrong. The Chinese are busy raping the world for its natural resources and it's all one-way traffic. They will eventually learn that the Chinese have no allegiance to anyone other than themselves.

Time New Zealand woke up and realised that it needs real offensive potential in its air force, and it needs to beef up its navy too. As a Kiwi friend of mine so poetically put it "if the Chinese rolled up in Auckland harbour in serried flotillas of gold painted junks, pulled by dolphins attached by gilded chains, there is bugger all we could do about it!"

Solomon Islands and China may appear to be all about security, but it is in fact counterproductive to the security interests of Solomon Islands and the Pacific Islands region. Prime minister Manasseh Sogavare seems to be oblivious to the issues surrounding the draft deal and may see it as a move that would cement his grip on political power.

dislike of the Chinese,the riots of 2021 were started when the government recognized Chinese claims to Taiwan.
