Earthquake in Italy

#1 Post by Capetonian » Wed Aug 24, 2016 8:15 am

Another major earthquake, with significant and tragic loss of life.

I am more than a little surprised that these events can't be forecast by seismographic technology and consequent steps taken to minimise loss of life by evacuating inhabitants from areas where a quake is pending.

Yes, not good. All the best for everyone over there.

We will probably have a lot of Italian relatives here in Oz worried about family over there.

The ominous thing that I noticed was that at approximately thirty minutes after the main earthquake there seemed to be no witness reports, on the European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC), from closer than 55km from the epicentre, which indicated to me that people nearer the epicentre were prevented in some way from reporting.
Sad to see so much loss of life and destruction.
And with the morn, those angel faces smile...

It was certainly heartwarming to see all the rescue teams from Iran and Pakistan etc turning up to return past assistance given in similar incidents.

Er.....I’m SURE that I did see them.....anybody??
