I've got a few of the original magnets which were so powerful it was nigh impossible to pull them off the surface so knobs were introduced:

Must confess I'm a sucker for hardware stores. I love to explore what's on offer in the extant ones in the UK and abroad. The latter are far more varied in their offerings. My fave was one in a small village in mid Turkey. All the aspiring apiarist could wish for in beekeeping, all sorts of ironmongery sold by the local measure e.g a quart of nails and a small anvil and fire to bend metal into whatever shape the customer wanted. You don't get that service in Bennetts!
